Re: Building a gaming computer with the NSK3480.
The 5850 (9.5") and 5870 (11.0") will both fit. That is good to know. However, the 5850 requires two PCIe adapters (six pin) and enough amps on the 12V rail. Can I use a molex-PCIe adapter to get two PCIe connections? How many amps does the 5850 use? I've tried googling, but found a lot of differen...

2) check this site; Cooler Master Power Supply Calculator 265W according to that calculator. http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine gives 265W. So maybe I'm fine with the stock PSU. As long as I don't go crazy with overclocking. Which I doubt I will. Side note: I think you usually get by with a w...

Building a gaming computer with the NSK3480.
Hi. I'm in the process of replacing my current desktop computer (a Shuttle barebone that sounds like a hurricane at idle). A while ago I built a server using the NSK3480 case ( http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=52876 ), and I really like that case. It's small, and with a couple of...

Just kidding around, but I would definitely like to see more pics. Like how you wired the back, perhaps some more of the HDD suspension. Hey why not one of the case in its natural habitat? The wiring is almost identical to Swed's, so I never took a picture of it. I'll see if I can get some pictures...

My new server
Hi. I've finally managed to build myself a new server. The old one was built with the cheapest case and PSU I could find and sounded like a jet plane. When the PSU died I got my rear in gear and built a new one. Parts: Antec NSK3480 (I love this case!) Athlon 5050e Thermalright HR-01+ 2 WDC WD5000AA...

It was no problems at all fitting the HR-01+ in the case. I've got ~2 cm clearance to the PSU compartment wall and a few mm between the top of the heatsink and the side of the case. Now I've just got to figure out a good way to mount my two harddrives: http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic....

Where to mount two harddrives in my NSK3480
Hi. I've recently got myself a Antec 3480 case. I'm using the stock PSU and case fan. The CPU uses a fanless heatsink (HR-01+). I'm wondering where to mount my two harddrives. At the moment one is mounted on the bottom and one in the top compartment using the silicon mounts in the case. I don't use ...

"Passive" CPU cooling in NSK3480
Hi. I'm planning on building a new server since the current one is far too noisy. I plan to use the Antec NSK3480 case and an Athlon 64 X2 4850E 45W CPU. Would it be possible to cool the CPU using just a Thermalright HR-01 Plus (without fan) and the case fan? The only other components in the case wi...

I've come up with some new designs. I've no idea how these would work. So I'd like some comments, please. 1) http://www.welzien.se/misc/Server1.png This is a classic design. The arrows indicate airflow. The dashed lines are airducts. Since the heatsinks for the CPU:s are quite small I use one airduc...

- The PSU fan normally is regulated depending on the PSU temp, so under low power loads it's gonna be probably too slow to handle the heat load of two CPUs, HDs and the PSU itself. My current PSU fan is a 12 cm 800 rpm Nexus that's running at a constant speed. The PSU was a really cheap one, so it ...

I'm planing to build a completely new case out of MDF. Since it's only the CPU:s, harddrives and PSU that produce any heat I'm wondering if it's possible to manage with just one 120 mm fan. I believe that the heat contribution from the rest of the computer is insignificant. I'm planning to mount the...

Building a single-fan MDF case
Hi. I've got a server that's running 24/7. It's currently mounted in the cheapest case I could find and using the cheapest PSU. The only modifications I've made is changing the PSU fan to a 800 rpm Noctua (120 mm) and changing the two 80 mm case fans. I don't remember what kind I used, but they were...
