I think that slot is meant to be used by shorter cards like this one here:

The slot marked with #9 would be a good option if there wasn't a pipe on the way... and using the VGA on the 2nd PCIe slot and running it at 8x will decrease performance i think. Most certainly i am going to buy a slim FAN to solve my problem or as a last resort i may try out the new thermalright co...

ATI 4850+Accelero S1+FAN = How many slots?
Hi everyone! I'm thinking on mounting accelero s1 on my reference ati powercolor 4850 card. As far as i know there will be no compatibility problems whatsoever with it since its a reference card. My biggest concern is how many slots does it gonna occupy with a 120m fan like a noctua p12 or the turbo...

Since 512MB of GDDR3 are 8x64Mb chips and 1GB of GDDR3 are 8x128Mb chips... No difference at all in power consumption. Considering this i think i'm going for a 1GB version of 4850, sapphire maybe my first choice since they didn't change the memory clock like powercolor did, actually the change of t...

It seems that memory on the 4850 is a big power hog (someone even mentioned 40W just for the RAM), so I'm not sure if getting a 1 GB version would be such a good idea... What, really? You think the 4850 1GB GDDR3 consumes more power than the 512MB version of 4870...? can someone confirm this? if th...

Accelero for 4850 sounds good what about for 4870? I read something about the accelero being to big and the ram heatsinks really bad so does it fit into an antec p182 and should i replace the sucky heatsinks with what? How many slots does it take with a FAN (do you recommend turbo module or somethin...

Best cooler for new ATI 4000 series?
I'm thinking on buying a new card so i was wondering what may be the best cooling solution with silence in mind.
What you think is the best VGA cooler solution today for the new ATI 4850 or 4870 and what FAN should i use with it, and what about RAM heatsinks?

Anyone know a UK/Euro stockist for these? I just bought the PowerColor HD3870 SCS3 from: http://www.scan.co.uk I also got a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard. The video card also uses the space for PCI-E slots either side of it. Not the end of the world since I still have one remaining PCI-E slot an...

Sapphire is doing a passive version of 3870 model but no release date yet, don't know if its gona be better or worse of the powercolor one. I was wondering if anyone know for sure if the powercolor 3870 passive or this sapphire 3850 passive card will fit on a new Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6? I am specially ...
