Re: Mini ITX Low Power Build
impressive power consumption. My i3-2100 build does 55W idle, although thats not the low power CPU, and it serves as an all round htpc.

it may be i need to invest in a decent pci-e sata card, but they are quite expensive. They are? yeah, i would want more than a dual port. 8 ports minimum would be what I was looking for, otherwise it just doesnt leave much room for expansion. I ordered a AOC-SASLP-MV8 when scan said they had it in ...

No way I'm going to be touching these at the price they're at. I'm expecting them to cost the thick end of £150(=$240) when they hit the UK, that's just too much money. Acutally, they are £115 at scan.co.uk. Its £17 more than an antec signature. I worked out that if you are drawing 200W the cost...

latest update..... installed a seasonic x-750.... added a couple of hard drives. the other thing i did.... ive got a 5850. For a stock reference cooler, its quite quiet, but you can still hear it compared to the scythe ninja on an accelero S1. I considered swapping back, but ive given the old card t...

I got a X25-m g2 160gb on.... tuesday. so far, i havent majorly taxed it (been more busy trying to rebuild the data on a 4TB array that went wrong), but ive still noticed the difference. its random read and writes are just incredible, and its definitely one of those things which you notice more when...

Re: P182 versus Sonata impressions
Thanks for the help, Nick. I like the P182 as well, but you may find your positive impression slightly changes over the course of the weekend (about the lower chamber being brilliant, and having so much room to work in, that is)... :D I see what you mean. It's clear the Antec engineers didn't bothe...

I have gone and bought the AMD Phenom II X3 720 Black Edition, along with the Gigabyte GA-MA790FXT-UD5P and some ram ( 2x CT25664BA1339 ).... okay, its not a huge upgrade from an E6750, but an i7 system would have cost over £200 more. The AM3 socket mobo should be good for a while, to me it seems ...

My last case was a p182, but it was getting a bit cramped after the 5th hard drive, so if I wanted anymore, a larger full tower case was required. In the end I picked the Lian-Li PC-A77B. Mainly because: -Holds 9 hard drives out of the box, with 6 5.25" drives still free! -Build quality looked very ...

I found you could only put 3 hard drives in the bottom chamber of the p182. A fourth one blocked airflow and all the drives got a lot hotter. The middle chamber has the issue of a big graphics card being in the way, in the end I took the whole chamber out. At best I reckon you can only get 1 hard dr...

I bought a 8800 GTS from scan for £140 (XFX). used an accelero S1, when I peeled back the sticker on the old heatsink there was another 'reference' sticker underneath ;p, you can see the sticky marks from the sticker underneath looking like this: http://www.hothardware.com/articleimages/Item1070/88...

Accelero S1 with a side panel duct
I was trying to think about where the heat would go if you put that heatsink on. With a stock dual slot 8800 GTS you get that vent at the rear, but im not sure how you would get that with the accelero. It seemed to me a good idea would be a duct on the side of the case. I guess it would need to arc ...

Seems to fit what you're looking for and you might get a little more clearance from the right angle connectors.

I need 3 to equal 4
Okay, so I have a seasonic S12 500W power supply, and a antec P182. now, the power supply has 3 sata connectors on each cable. The bottom HDD cage can hold 4 hard drives (i currently have 3 in there). So if I were to put another hard drive in there, then I would either need to use the other sata cab...
