Re: Quietest mid-range card
My Gigabyte 660 Windforce (note: non-ti) is pretty damned quiet. When you boot up, the fans default to 50% speed, but once you get into windows, they drop down to 30% speed, about 900RPM from what I can deduce. Completely inaudible to me unless I have my ear right up to the graphics card, or if I ga...

Impressive! I'm building a new PC at the turn of the new year, and this card just made my short-list.

Ha! Looks very much like a fridge
I like the flexibility of the HDD bays... very impressed with the unit overall. Kind of "Fractal Design... but different." I like it.

Lian-Li A-55 - Looks really nice, but...
Howdy folks, long time reader, sporadic poster. I was flicking through the Lian-Li website this evening, and came across this chassis, the A-55. It seems to be Lian-Li's interpretation of Silverstone's successful "stack cooling", with fans along the top and bottom of the case, and the PSU and HDDs m...

Re: Zalman Z9 Plus ATX Tower Case
I don't really believe you should have "Ugly" in the cons section, it comes across as rather unprofessional. I actually find the case decent looking, if bordering on the gaudy side, and it certainly looks better than a fair few of the "gaming" style cases out there. If anything, I think the review s...

Re: Silverstone Fortress FT-03 and Raven 3
Well, I like the direction Silverstone's designers are taking with this generation of cases, but to go along with the crowd here, Yes, the RV03 looks a bit... garish, to say the least.
Regarding the FT03 however, I'm smitten. I'll be purchasing one in the next few weeks.

Having owned a P180 mini, I can safely say that I was glad to be rid of it. It was great build quality and all, good airflow (that top 200mm fan is delicious), pretty quiet in stock trim, and roomy compared to most M-atx cases, but the the thing is just too damn BIG! One of my main reasons for going...

Do family members count? :D I voted 5-6. Once I got my pc quiet as it is now, I began to notice the constant low hum of our air conditioning system's fan (Aussie summers are hot, so you happily put up with the noise 8) ), if gaming on a quiet evening, I can hear some electrical sounds coming from my...

Zalman MS1000-HS1 -- Thoughts?
Today I was searching around online looking for a quiet, elegant, simple case to use for an upcoming build. There is of course the ubiquitous Antec Performance One series of cases, but I want something different. Whilst flicking through the selection at FrozenCPU, I came across this; Zalman MS1000-H...

Is the Corsair H50 "SPCR loud", or "Average User loud"? Reason I ask is this; Myself and two other friends are starting a small, run-from-home computer company. We wish to specialize in quiet premium systems, ranging from a silent, small form factor office system, all the way up to high end, custom...

I'm still stuck in the dinosaur age, and I wouldn't have it any other way 8) My 150gb Velociraptor is my pride and joy. *Casts level 3 thread necromancy* Having just recently re-built my water-cooling loop, I now have 2 nexus fans @ 7v running on the radiator hanging off the back of the case. At first I thought they would be annoying, but because of the smooth sound Nexus fans have, it is not irritating in the slight...

Another Aussie let down by our country's lack of quiet hardware. I myself own a Scythe Himuro, the Quiet Drive's cheaper cousin. Just having a look at it, you could fit two 2.5" drives in there no prob. Getting power/data cables in the back might be a little squishy but definitely doable. pccasegear...

It's possible you got a dud fan, happens from time to time. From personal experience, the P12s have a "unique" sound, which can, depending on circumstances (background noise, how and indeed where they're mounted) become rather annoying. I live near-ish a major road, and the general background noise ...
