BTW, I wouldn't use the 3rd RAM slot if you don't really have to. You lose the dual-channel functionality and it usually causes some severe issues with the chipset. I always wondered why even they bothered with the 3rd DIMM on nForce2 boards...4 would have made sense. Because some Socket A boards a...

There is a real simple fix. Just don't buy an Nvidia based card. Three things make me want to avoid Nvidia. Newegg isn't one of those three. 1. Failing chips 2. renaming shenanigans 3. ATI/AMD merger Some of those reasons don't hold much weight but when there are only two real players in a market y...

[/quote] The "three-pin" Power LED cable - just cut it in half (down the empty middle pin) and viola' it becomes two one-pin cables that you can just stick on the appropriate pins. Or, just don't connect the damn thing - it frequently feeds an annoying bright LED on the front panel anyway and serves...

It just struck me: I have a fairly fast memorystick. Why not install Ubuntu on it, and ditch the HDD? I use the computer for streaming video from a lan server, so the I/O is not really important for its primary use. Yea why not indeed? Thats what I do, and it works great! I hear a non-journaled fil...

Madman, thanks on the tip on the rear PSU grill. I do babysit my very young out of control cousins often, so you might have just saved a life ;) . I was however, considering replacing the fans in the PSU. The fastest spinning fans in the rig are in my power supply, 2 Enermax ball bearing fans @ 1600...

Thank you on the suggestion to remove the fan grills. That sounds like a really logical idea so i'm going to remove the 2 grills on the PSU tonight. (the grill on the exhaust is part of the case) About removing the front fan... I was worried that since I was running a passive 7300GT, it might overhe...
