That's great to hear, but I presume you are talking about the gigabyte MB rather than the ASUS MB that I was talking about?
you are right!

Re: Xeon E3-1230 V2

This thread is interesting. I went for the i7 3770 due to HT, HD 4000 & Vt-d features. I doubt Xeon are available for sale for mainstream market and where I am living.

I was checking and discover that Core i7 is equivalent to Xeon E3.

Re: New Ivy Bridge Setup

I am thinking of doing this exact same build. My only concern is the reliability of the ASUS P8H77-M PRO MB. See this review on amazon... http://www.amazon.com/review/R1Y01BFSDBUXXF/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R1Y01BFSDBUXXF It is this bit that worries me the most... The tech rep from ASUS did say they we...

Re: New Ivy Bridge Setup

I just completed my new build last Saturday. I decided to move away from Asus. As I don't intend to overclock, nor heavy gaming and attempt any SLi/Crossfire configurations, I want to keep my desktop to be silent, simple, speedy and stable. I don't need my parts to look good or have particular colou...

Re: New Ivy Bridge Setup

If you prefer to stick with Gigabyte the GA-Z77MX-D3H is a fully featured board. While they have improved, Gigabyte's fan controls are still not in the same league as other brands, particularly Asus. The Asus fan controls enable you to set a Silent mode or alternatively you can really fine-tune you...

New Ivy Bridge Setup

Hi guys, I need help from you guys on my new desktop setup. Pls help me think of which motherboard and PSU. The rest of the items listed I have already gathered are through recent purchases. I don't intend to overclock, prefer Intel i7 3770 and micro-ATX form factor. My main use is for photo editing...

Re: Need advise what to do with my pc

"Jerky" is awfully vague and subjective. And you don't say what sorts of pages are affected. Browsers usually have settings for this stuff if you care. I only care about loading times and scrolling speed. I wouldn't spend that kind of money on a CPU which is well on its way to obsolescence without ...

Re: Need advise what to do with my pc

I'm going to second HFat's advice that you get a SSD. My setup is similar to your own, and it's still running great for me. She's not the most up to date machine but she handles the games I play (L4D, L4D2, Borderlands, Dead Space) with no problems and she runs pretty much 24/7. Maybe an SSD would ...

Re: Need advise what to do with my pc

Going from low cost to high cost: +1 on trying to determine where the speed bump is. Photoshop may be grinding your hard drive with just 2GB of RAM. You can also speed up Photoshop screen refresh (if using CS4 or CS5) by getting a low end video card that supports it. Not sure if the onboard 780G he...

Re: Need advise what to do with my pc

What problem are you trying to solve? If you're only trying to solve the "getting slow" part, the proper way to go about it would be to determine what exactly is causing this slowdown. But perhaps the first quick and dirty fix to try would be to buy a cheap SSD and to reinstall your OS and stuff on...

Need advise what to do with my pc

After going through some of new PC specs, I'm lost again. . . :( Anyway current PC is getting slow maybe due to the config or accumulating data. I use it mainly for word processing, RAW files post processing in ACR/Photoshop, listen music, watch movies/youtube, sync my iPod & Facebook flash games. N...

Oh, the reason that your core is lower has to do (to a degree) with the cooler. The stock AMD cooler runs a lot faster (and louder). I traded off the temps for a cooler solution (mine was ~27C). Take a look at the fan speed for an indicator. i'm actually listening to it last night. it is quiet, i j...

Actually bit the bullet and bought a gigabyte 780G-based board. It is running ~4-5 degrees cooler (42c in idle) and when it is decoding video it barely raises temperature at all. However, it does have one reading that is 84C all the time. I need to figure out what that is. having same issue with th...
