I'd love to pull the trigger on an e5300 but cannot find a retailer that will guarantee the newer version with VT. May go with the e3300 celery instead.

Unfortunately not many retailers advertise the SPEC code. Are the E5300's currently available from Newegg, etc SLGTL's?

From past experiences attempting to run server class hardware at home is more trouble than it's worth, even if it's free. Since you're "getting them from work" the presumption is it's older hardware.
