Re: Annoying whistling from computer when internet browser i
Pressing down the ATX power connector firmly causes the whine to stop, weird... How much power overhead does you PSU have on your system? Maybe there isn't enought to keep a decent voltage on the ATX connection (connectors cause voltage loss), causing some coil to scream in terrible agony, as it sit...

It's not always the case, but under most circumstances I can ignore noise. During the day (when I'm at the lab or following courses), I don't mind the noise of the machines at the lab, or the talking of all the other students. But as soon as I get home, everything has to be completely quiet. My hous...

Since I became a member (A lurker, though) of SPCR, I've noticed this little thread, but never read through it. "Probably irrelevant to my interests". However, this thread caught my eye when I was browsing around the forums (looking for new silent case mods, heh). I was curious if I was becoming obs...

Oh, this looks pretty interesting. What surprises me most is the fact that the four fin arrays aren't connected, just like the tow towers the megahalems has. Maybe this has a better influence on dissipating heat to the air flowing through the heatsink? Still, 16 heatpipes coming from the baseplate: ...

You sir, just made my day. Copper makes me drool, especially this much. This is beautiful craftmanship, but I foresee a big problem. Since the copper fins are below the case, the heat rising from it will move past the components, warming them up again. I don't think it'll make the whole circuit very...

The new T-rad isn't built for two 120mm fans, so Thermaltake has the empire all for itself. The heatsink itself looks pretty decent, actually. It's an oversized accelero rev2 if you ask me. You just have to replace the crappy included fans with two of your own, and it should perform well. Though I w...

Placing your own fan over the cooler won't really cool it very efficiëntly. The fan used normally moves the air perpendicular along its axle, while a normal fan does not. The heatsink is built in such a way that only air that flows towards the backplate of the card gets optimal heat exchange. Next ...

Pics or it didn't happen. ;) Anyway, I'd like to welcome you to this site and community (?). Looking at the specs, your system is about as fast as mine, probably a little faster thanks to the overclocking. Good you silenced those harddrives. They continually produce the same amount of noise, even wh...

The Overdrive utility is meant to unrealisticly test your processor. It makes the chip run hotter than normal on full-load. Try downloading and running Prime95 and look whether the fan goes up to 5000 RPM. If you have a PWM fan, you can place the fan connector on a three-pin header so it runs on 12 ...

I'll just add this: the whining sound doesn't come from a blocked intake, or from the honeycomb-grating on the ceiling. The whining persists when I remove the side panel. It's the rubber grommets that make the fans whine for some reason. Whenever I push the fan downwards, the noise ends. With both f...

I'm not afraid of heat, I just don't want my PC to malfunction... 8) This is what I got from a 10 minute Realtemp test. Not much difference: http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/6933/passivelyfd7.jpg Then I did a 20-minute burn-in, which caused temperatures to rise to 73 degrees (27 below critical). My ...
