Very nice!
If I may make a request; if you use this metric in future reviews, could you pick just a few (3-4) other PSUs for comparison to make the graphs easier to understand?

Hope PSU and case manufacturers start pushing smaller form factor PSUs. As this shows, most computers (heck, any without CF/SLI) don't need a full-size ATX PSU anymore.

Re: Best Case for the Inevitable GTX 680
I was thinking about a good internal non-blower cooler; the 18cm case fan should get rid of any excess heat. Agree that a blower with a near-open case side like that is a bad idea.

Re: Best Case for the Inevitable GTX 680
SPCR reviewed the nearly-identical predecessor SG-07 ( http://www.silentpcreview.com/silverstone-sg07 ), and observed that while it's incredibly compact, the video card gets no airflow other than what its own fan(s) can pull in from the ventilation on the side. This means big video cards will need ...

Does anyone know if the Radeon 7750 can be run in a system with a Pico-PSU? I'm thinking of putting it a http://www.logicsupply.com/products/c292 with a Sandy Bridge itx system. The PicoPSU that I have now is the 120-WI with a 120w FSP Block What CPU? It should be just possible. Its maximum power d...

Re: No low-end 28nm GPUs from AMD?
It's hardly low end, but the 7950 is out and the Sapphire HD 7950 OE seems SPCR-worthy. It runs at 1v instead of the usual 1,1v (this is probably due to luck on Anandtech's part or cherrypicking by Sapphire) and has noise under load comparable to other cards at idle. Under Metro 2033 load noise rise...

Re: Design idea for silent mATX case
How about basing it on the FT-03 but flipping the PSU on its side so it doesn't block the airflow, then using a single 18cm fan in the bottom, slightly off center to make room for the PSU? You can have a spot for an exhaust fan above the CPU cooler in case it's needed. You'll need an exhaust grill t...

Re: Mini-ITX Gaming PC
Don't worry overmuch about CPU cooler height. An i3 2120 shouldn't need a lot of cooling. Any mATX case gives you four slots' worth of space for a GPU cooler which is more of an issue for a quiet gaming PC. I just happened to read a review of the Deepcool Dracula which should work nicely. An Acceler...

You seem to have pretty much the same needs as I do. I also use monitor + TV and have an older GD02. I did get a GTX260 at the time but haven't actually needed it for gaming. "The Scythe Slip Stream line performs well, have very smooth acoustics, and is inexpensive and widely." The word "available" missing. Does this mean there's no longer any point in having a PSU with fan even though it would only start up at heavy load and spin slowly enough to be almost inaudible? Only if you need more than 500W?

http://www.pureoverclock.com/article1354.html This seems like a very interesting development in many ways. High end GPUs would benefit a lot from water cooling as you can put the radiator in a far more convenient place than on the card itself. With the added CPU loop, you can use cases that would ot...

For me in the US looking at prices I see DDR3 2000 and 1866 modules reasonably priced (mixed in with modules that are overpriced). More expensive than DDR3 1600 but not so expensive I wouldn't just go for the 2000 if I were building a system. I know that isn't the case in Europe, Australia, and oth...

Re: AMD A8-3850 Quad Core Desktop APU
Edit: I just read the Anandtech test and there the 1333 memory lags behind significantly in some games after all. This is the one. Considering that 1333MHz doesn't cost much less than 1600, faster memory costs enough to pay for a discrete GPU and Llano is pointless if you don't need a GPU I think 1...

Re: AMD A8-3850 Quad Core Desktop APU
Why was the memory only tested @ 1333Mhz. This platform is heavily dependent on memory bandwidth. I was hoping to see if the increased bandwidth affected the power consumption. Presumably they wanted to keep the same speeds for every platform. For those who don't know, the GPU is heavily bottleneck...

Do you have the hardware available to test cases with GPU cooling that's less noisy but leaves the heat in the case? I can't help but feel the 4870's you use test very different characteristics of the case from what a pair of hot cards with third party cooling would. Especially as you mentioned that...

One fairly significant problem is that no aftermarket coolers blow out of the case. I'd like to see a 4 slot cooler that blows front to back, with a large fan or two at a 90 degree angle to the card. A six slot 2kg monster for crossfire / SLI would be sweet. Case manufacturers seem to put a lot of e...

Don't see why not as the height should fit with 5mm to spare. Unless you have a really hot processor, you could experiment with removing some fans.Hayate19XX wrote:Wondered if this heatsink would work in the FT-02?
