Hi, thanks for sharing your new computer built, really enjoyed reading about your computer build. that's a great collection of components I'm pretty much about to buy a similar parts myself. Interesting bit of info about the power supply. They used their own special type of fan, and there is a quest...

Come on guys, I thought there would be loads of posts about these new AMD CPUs. I think this the most exciting thing that's happened in a long while. Who the hell wants to kowtow to those corrupt greedy bastards at Intel. they are very close to having a total monopoly in the CPU field. They have abo...

I am very grateful for your replies and perspective about different components. I would dearly love to support AMD because I like rooting for the underdog but I'm sorely tempted by the Intel chips. Also I know it's stupid but I have a real fear about overclocking mainly because I mentally switch off...

Which would you choose AMD 5050E or Intel 8400E?
Hi, I've been happily using my AMD 64 single core 3200 running at 2.2 GHz 89 watt computer for ages. I'm using XP have 1.5 GB of RAM. Everything has been tuned up for minimal drag on system resources. I'm thinking of upgrading, but I'm worried that I will spend loads of cash and not notice much perf...

Hi, It would really help if ypou told us which Xilence model CPU cooler you bought: the 80mm fan is certainly a problem, but th ecooler itself may not be up to the job. There are no coolers with heatpies and 80mm fans on the Xilence site. Also, knowing your actual CPU would help - or at least the a...

Computer open on desk, need CPU cooling advice thanks
Hi, would appreciate a little advice, I've had my case opened on my desk for months trying to decide what to do about my noisy CPU fan. I bought a fairly cheap Xilence heatsink and cooler and it's a bit rubbish. It had heat pipes and looked good with an 80 millimetre fan on top. I have a speed contr...

Hi, with a low power system I would think that the PSU would be OK with the intake fan removed. I did once replace the intake fan of a PSU, the original was 80x20mm and I fitted a "normal" 80x25mm fan by cutting part of the frame where it interfered with the inside of the PSU. AFIK PFC in a PSU con...

Get a new power supply? Other than that, replacing a fan isn't hard, as for the 4 wires...eh...if you had a multimeter you could determine why they are, but if not just cut all of those wires and you can wire the nexus up right to 12v somewhere...forget the stock 4 wires. As for your second fan...e...

Advice appreciated regarding replacing a four wire PSU fan
Hi everyone, I've been reading stuff on the site for ages and had just registered. I think it's a great website and forum. I have a special interest in silent computers as I damaged my ears messing around with subsonic bass, this has left me with slight sound sensitivity. I and messing around with s...
