I find that its really easy not to listen about 50% of the time. However, the reason for having a computer inaudible is for those times when I'm in a not the best mood, and have to work on my thesis, and you know how it goes - you can't focus. Those moods where every little thing annoys you. It may ...

Also, if your Scythe fan controller is one of the models that has an alarm in it, try giving your graphics card a work out and see if you trip it. The one in my Scythe Kaze Master goes off at 72 degrees, which the graphics card heatsink will easily reach. You can turn the alarm off, that may actuall...

I have decided to replace the VX550 with a HX450. In part, its a desire for a modular cabling. In part, its because the VX550 is too loud. The VX550 is not too loud if someone has normal fans going. i.e. 1x120mm exhaust at 1200+ rpm with some grill impedance, and so on these grounds I feel comfortab...

The PSU is quiet enough from 1m with the fan stopped. I, however, am not to comfortable (well, I'm not confident, my girl friend is uncomfortable) with me opening up the power supply to change the fan. Is anyone in Sydney, Australia (preferably the northern side) who is able to do this for me? All t...

Sorry, complete oversight on my part. I assumed the noise was not the fan because it didn't sound like any fan noise I'd ever heard. The buzzing and whining and a clicking is all coming from the PSU fan - I stopped it to double check. Maybe it will be a much cheaper solution of replacing the PSU fan.

Noisy Corsair VX550
I've managed to reduce most sources of noise from my case. The loudest one currently is my power supply, a corsair VX550. It is not fan noise that is the problem. I guess I can only describe the noise as a faint whistling and a buzz. Are there any solutions for removing this noise, or do I need to l...

Not having a case typically means no fans, which means minimal airflow. I presumed that the cooling benefit from having no case would contribute more to the overall quietening aspect through a lack of heat build-up and therefore no extra fan requirement, compared with having a case and requiring fan...

Asus P5Q-SE and SE2 have one really horrible thing about them (as do many of the other P5Q series. The motherboard power header is located about 3/4 of the way across the board. You have to run the power cable from your PSU across the motherboard, round the back of the graphics card, into the stupid...

Overriding PC no boot without CPU fan
My motherboard has a lovely fail safe that prevents the PC from booting if there is no CPU fan detected. The CPU fan header is the typical PWM header. How can I override this fail safe?

The cables of the VX550 (same goes with the HX620... maybe all the Corsair's or maybe its just me!) are NOT long enough to run them behind the motherboard plate, so you have to have the stupid cables going over the front ruining air flow. Right now I'm more annoyed by some high pitched whine coming ...

Have you already tried removing the two "stock" fans, I've run the case without them on (both as disconnected and off on the Scythe fan controller), I have not as yet been bothered to go through the "joy" of taking off the front of the CM690 again. I noticed no change in noise from my sitting posit...

New Inaudible Build (System Redesign)
My current build is in a CM690. The four fans (2 stock with rubber linings added, 2 noctura with rubber fans) are on a fan controller and typically running at 600-800rpm. There is no graphics card noise (Gigabyte HD4850 with heat pipes, and no fans). The hard drive is a WD Green Power with Acoustic ...
