Re: New PC for my father
I talked to him about power consumption and the HD5670, but it seems he made up his mind. He's not that bothered about power consumption and he prefers to keep his old GPU. He says it feels better to know it's there, thus making his system capable of doing more than needed. Ah well, it's his PC, not...

New PC for my father
My dad asked me to make him a new PC. He's not into hardcore gaming or other specific stuff, but he enjoys a recent, well-built and silent PC that is capable of managing allround tasks at a good speed. The PC will mostly be used for basic tasks (internet, Office, browsing the web, casual games,...)....

Re: King Mod noise damping kits
Last week I was thinking about buying this damping kit (I've got a PC-A05N as well). Because my HDD is no longer suspended (working on that though) I'm experiencing some aluminium-'hum', this kit seems a good solution to me. Or will the difference be almost inexistent? I was also wondering wether th...

Re: Tiché PC HDD Vibration Killer
Looks like something I'd like to try! Are there already other European webshops that offer the single kit? I buy all my stuff from Azerty.nl, one of the best webshops in Western-Europe. Always cheap and a big stock - perhaps you should contact them?

Re: josephclemente's Lian Li PC-A05NB + Blow hole-cooled HD5
Amazing, I'm deeply impressed with this one. I have a PC-A05N myself and although I'm still very satisfied with the case and my setup, I've always been annoyed with the cable management. How did you get your cables so nice and tidy? I'd love to do that to my case as well! On a sidenote; can I do som...

@ Bruce: Many thanks for the input, but since I have the Xigmatek with a Nexus installed I'm totally satisfied. I nevertheless hope your valuable input will help someone else! @ sub: I bought all my parts through Azerty.nl, tons of products and shipping costs are okay overthere. For only one or two ...

My GPU, although my HDD is louder on load. A passive GPU would solve this issue easily (the Powercolor HD5750 passive is at the moment even cheaper than my Sapphire HD5750 Vapor-X!) but I don't feel the need to replace my GPU. Haven't got the money either, to be honnest. At 25% the fan is still audi...

I have a Xigmatek HDT-S128k as well and I installed a Nexus on it. The fan is fixed at 7V though, just like my two casefans (Nexus Real Silent as well). It works like a charm, and although your case is a bit different I see no reason why it would not work if you want to control your CPU fan as you d...

In Europe they seem available at a decent price (link). Not exactly cheap though, a Nexus RX-5300 is only €74 on that very same webshop.

A few days ago I found some spare time and installed the Xigmatek with a Nexus fan (7V). I'm very, very pleased with it. Installation went smooth. Attaching the fan was a bit dounting at first, but once I found out how to do it in the best way there were no problems at all. The clip was very easy to...

Yes yes, I'm sorry, you're right, option 2 isn't possible with the current bracket. Xigmatek provides a solution, but for now I can't get it cheap enough and I don't think this will change. If no one disagrees that pushing air will work better than pulling I'll replace the fan before I put it in pla...

Oooh, you were talking about the PSU - erm, yes, it actually takes cold air instead of blowing hot air  I agree with you that exhaust at the top would be the best solution, but I don't have the money for the replacement part you suggested, and I'm not very eager to cut out some holes myself. P...

2. Are you sure you can install the PSU with the fan on the top? Even if you can, the air won't flow the way you show it flowing. I suppose you're talking about option 1? I don't see why I would be able to install the HS with fan like this. Haven't tried it ofcourse, but I do think that the clip wi...

Ah, didn't noticed your reply ces. Such a replacement top looks nice, but it's too expensive for me. About placing the fan on the bottom of the heatsink: if pushing: don't you think it won't find fresh, cool air at the bottom of the case? If pulling: where to with the hot air? Remember, the case has...

I've made a little Photoshop sketch so that my question is clear. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v417/-Potenza-/AirflownewHS.jpg The current situation can be seen on the pictures I already posted, the Nexus XiR-2300 that I currently use blows the hot hair towards the closed sidepanel - therefore ...

Cr*p! Forget my fancy scheme about the airflow, ultimately I noticed the direction of the heatsink is different! So the fan can only be mounted on top of the HS, or at the bottom. Stupid me! What would be the best option? Go passive, or with the fan on top, pulling air so that the intake fan can (ho...

No, it's not the loudest part, my CPU cooler is (Nexus XiR-2300). But that cooler was an obvious mistake, it will be replaced with a Xigmatek S1283 with an (inaudible) Nexus 120mm fan at 7V. Until then I can't tell for sure, but I must admit the Vapor-X cooler is NOT silent at 25%. It's very quiet t...

I did some extra 'testing' as well, and these vapor-X coolers are truly excellent performers. No, the fan is a 4-pin PWM fan, connected to a 4-pin connector on the MB. then it's a motherboard issue of some sort, possibly a bios setting. a 4-pin pwm fan connected to a 4-pin cpu fan connector on the motherboard is really simple. make absolutely sure that there aren't any fan controller softwa...

No, the fan is a 4-pin PWM fan, connected to a 4-pin connector on the MB. That's why I'm having such a hard timing adjusting the fan. I did tried Speedfan, but that didn't work either. I also plugged the fan into a 3-pin connector on the MB, but it changed nothing. PWM fans aren't supposed to be adj...

There isn't much I can do in BIOS. I can see the fan speed, enable/disable Q-fan, see the voltages and set min. and max. temperature. I tried PC Probe II as well, unfortunately no solution. And what is a 'real' CPU cooler? I won't say I'm totally satisfied with this one, but it ain't bad either. If I could arrange the fan speed I'm sure this cooler will be good enough. Now it's obvious that the speed of the fan gradually goes up after I started my computer. At first the fan spins at something around 1400rpm (almost inaudible), but after a few minutes it's already at 1600rpm. Finally it seems to stabilise at 2100-2200rpm - way too much for CPU temps between 30°C a...

Got some updates - and unfortunately they're not the greatest. The Nexus XiR-2300 seemed to be very quiet, but it started to make some serious noise this day.
