In my experience the v.3 cooler is a great product. In a low airflow case it does make an impact on the case temperature compared to the passive Zalman, which I previously used in the system. I would say somewhere around 3-5 degrees improvement. I run it on a ATI9700, that is overclocked, on the low...

Slight buzz

I just bought a 4090, unfortunately it gives off a slight electrical buzz which is not loud but definately both more irritating and louder than the 120mm fan. :( I read somewhere else in the forum that the buzz could be unit dependant? Did I just get unlucky or is this a common problem? What gets me...

It is horribly expensive here in Sweden, in fact so expensive that I've ruled it out for use in my PC, even though it seems to work just fine. :( I don't know where you draw the line for expensive... but here are a couple of...

...or you can mod it. Remove the 80 mm and replace the stock 92mm with a quiet fan of choice. Run it of the 80 mm fan header if you like. Then you still have the temperature control for extra safety.

Worked wonders on my old box. Had no option for RMA.

All of the above posts may still be true, if you have an already quiet PSU. The one I have been testing it on is an Antec TruePower. The sound differen...

It seems like its real random, some Papst 4412 click and others don't. I have two of them, one clicks quite badly and the other runs smooth. The clicking one is somewhat older but haven't been run all that much more. No experience with any other 120mm fans except for the Antec stock fan that came wi...

I've recently silenced my old P2 350

1. Replaced stock HSF, with a passive heat sink. Much like the first eBay offer above.
2. Modded the Enemax PSU; Removed the 80mm fan and swapped the 92mm.
3. Suspended the hard drives on foam

Very quiet. I can only hear it at night. :D

I've actually tried running a Thunderbird at 99°C+ for 15 - 30 seconds and it survived.

I was fiddling with the heatsink and didn't place it correctly. The BIOS reading was 99°C. I assume it was the maximum that could be displayed. Works fine today.

Yes, I have lined the case with bitumen, works to some extent for the vibration. Not entirely when all my drives spin up (4 of them incl. WD, IBM, Maxtor and Seagate), even with them in the built in grommets of the SLK3700 case, they can cause some irritating vibration in the lined case. It does go ...

If silence is the top priority I would also go for the single drive setup. If performance is desired then I would go with the 2 drive setup. RAID or non RAID two drives is faster. 2 heads to read and write your swap & temp files. Its a huge difference. I've tried single drive, RAID 0 and two drives ...

On the Antec 3700 and I image on any clones (D8000), there are actually some space to drill the holes. Right next the plastic fan holder screws used to be. No need to rotate or move the fan sideways.
