CPU Vcore and Vtt lowered

On 2010.05.05 -> lowered CPU Vcore = 1.09375 and Vtt = 1.170. Everything works flawlessly and on 2010.06.01 I am absolutely sure that my system is 100% stable, I didn't get any single crash or problem in this time. I posted the latest config at CPU-Z validator http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?i...

Nice, you did a great job there. Now about the cooler master case, is a good one and with very good ventilation, but i am not sure it will be an improvement from a noise standpoint, because is a very open case. Look at this review: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NKlf0YATzBo or better this one: http:...

Load Line Calibration

Exactly, that's why I kept Load Line Calibration disabled and manually set on BIOS the voltage a little bit higher. From this voltage if you subtract vdroop results the minimum needed CPU voltage to run safe on Windows. Of course I didn't calculate anything, I just adjusted voltage, run a bunch of t...

VDroop

Yes, I mean VDroop, sorry, from what I have seen on other computers with i5-750, this voltage behavior seems normal. This lower voltage happens because of the VDroop - because the CPU draws more power especially when is at 100% load, from what i have read.

voltages

As I wrote in my review I have: - voltage set on BIOS manually - 1.131V as can be seen here: http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=aVcI6dA - on Windows I have 1.104V on idle: http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=gxyC8lJ - on full load I have 1.056V: http://www.postimage.org/image.php?v=gxyC5RA The di...

Crackling noise on the PSU and random beep on mobo

Hi George7, this "buzzing noise when under full load" comes from the PSU or from other component? If is from PSU you can manually adjust the voltages in BIOS like Kindling said (except the part with C1E and EIST where I do not agree with him) and like I did (explained on my article here http://www.s...

HDD temps

34C are good. This should be ok, but for better ventilation the drives are usually placed with space between them, especially in a case like yours where the space between HDD's is very thin. Interesting Backup system, I used Norton Ghost 2003 some time ago, and after that Drive Image XML when I was ...

HDD'S

Very nice rig you have here gcwebbyuk, congrats. One observation though, I noticed you have the HDD's right one over the other with very little space left between them. What temps do you currently have on HDD's??? I placed sometimes two hard drives in the same position and the temps went so high tha...

IMPORTANT! I changed the first post of this thread in order to reflect the latest hardware and configuration changes I made to my system, including the updated tests, voltages and temperature readings. Concerned about the high temps I decided to reinstall the CPU cooler. So, I removed the motherboar...

Re: Ninja not mounted well

socket 1156 retention kits 1) Have you tried testing the CPU temps as above while running stock speeds to see how much impact the OC'ing is having on temps? 2) Have you tried measuring the temps when running the actual video encoding/etc. apps? About a bolt through kit - I will definitely look for ...

Ninja not mounted well

Perhaps the Minja isn't mounted well. I started to think at this myself, I had difficulty to mount ninja because of the Intel type pins that kept slipping. Those push pins are a pain. Maybe i should remove it and try to mount it again. Bolt-thru kit for the Ninja? I didn't know that such thing exis...

CPU load

Naw, it's just more in line with what's expected. Remember, a lot of the tests you were running are stress tests - conditions that you'll never see in real life apps. Unfortunately for video encoding and other image and video rendering stuff I am working with, the CPU will need to do just that, 100...

EasyTune 6

After I did some research on net I think I need to edit the first post again. It looks like RealTemp and CoreTemp are right and EasyTune6 is indeed wrong and this problem seems really common with this utility. wazza300 Senior Member on some other forum said: et6 takes temps from the motherboard sens...

location and temps

Haha, you got me, I am not in London. This remind me of that old joke... A Frenchman and an Englishman meet on a tavern. After two months in London the French complains furious: "I have had enough, mist, mist and mist again, in this country is only mist!" The Englishman hurt in it's patriotic pride ...

temps

You are right again Steve. I was looking on the BIOS at startup and the reported temps (on idle of course) are around 25 - 30 C, then in Windows are reported the same WHEN THE CPU IS SET AT X20 MULTIPLIER. I can only think that entering in a power save state like X9 multiplier, mess somehow the temp...

I got the i7 for the price of i5 I wouldn't complain about it. As for the beeping problem. Is that mean I have to get a ram with 1.5v and there will be no beeping sound? Nice, for the i7, you are lucky. About ram - no. This beep appear only at certain motherboards, and even then at certain settings...

jtcb you can't be serious. For this you can get from second hand any 2 years old computer at a faction of the price, and run "MS Office, ACCPAC, internet, watch online steaming video, TV, dvd movie, burn dvds" perfectly fine. i7 860 is a very strong (and expensive) CPU and it's value would be wasted...

jtcb I decided to use Kingston mem. because I read some favorable reviews about them on different forums and because it was the cheapest good brand memory i found. Re: System

Nice system. How much power does the monitor draw? I didn't tested yet but should be less then 40 W at the brightness/contrast settings I use it. Nice build. Might want to review the calibration of your temp monitoring s/w as it's impossible for the cpu idle temps to be below ambient. Your actual l...

Completed testing on my system

After a lot of testing I just finished to balance my system. Is not exactly a quiet system because I used air cooling, but the fan noise is very low, the loudest part of it being the HDD's by far. For the ones interested in setting up a overclocked i5-750 based system without any risk and keeping de...

Fans

For case cooling i used 3 12cm fans that came with Lian Li case (+ one 12 cm fan from PSU if you want to count that). For CPU I used the default 8 cm fan of the Scythe NINJA MINI (exit) + one AMD fan from an older system of 7 cm or maybe less (in). One problem arose from the RAM modules that blocked...

So it was the mobo, then maybe you will like something with SATA3 and maybe USB 3.0 ports... I heard Gigabyte have them both but don't support them in the same time. There were some articles. about this. Good luck with your new choice.
