Re: Jonsbo/Cooltek/Rosewill Legacy U2 MiniITX "gaming" build
Thanks for all the details, MiniMatt. Good to hear that dust isn't an issue for you. You need more cats! And dogs! And fans! Am now very tempted to get one of these and mod it until it's much bigger and noisier....oh..wait. Magical ducting isn't that hard. First, start with magical thinking. And wor...

Re: Jonsbo/Cooltek/Rosewill Legacy U2 MiniITX "gaming" build
Great test results! Sort of. Shaved a degree off the GPU with the front 120mm stirring the air. So, that's a thermal victory. Sort of.
Thanks for taking the time to spin and unspin your case fans.
How is the dust collection/containment in the U2?

Re: Jonsbo/Cooltek/Rosewill Legacy U2 MiniITX "gaming" build
Thanks for the info, MiniMatt! Really like this little case. One of the prettier mITX ones, IMO. Also considering the Legacy W1-S. It's bigger tho, but airflow seems simple front-to-back and more space for my clumsy hands to break, er, place stuff. If I can play 20 questions.... What is the dust ing...

Re: Jonsbo/Cooltek/Rosewill Legacy U2 MiniITX "gaming" build
Thanks for the info, MiniMatt. It looks great! The U2 is on my micro-list for a mITX build, using eerily similar parts. I had somehow imagined that the front mounted 120mm would somehow be magically connected through magical ducting to the side vents. Seems not to be the case in this case. ;-) My qu...

Re: Noctua to use Active Noise Cancellation in new Fan
Have you heard the video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afL09LkfHVw It reduces the 'fan whine' by 25dB, however, it doesn't seem to reduce the rushing air sound pressure levels by very much, if at all. Reducing whine is a great thing, I'm not whining about that, it's that my system with high qualit...

Looks like you'll need a 92mm cooler with those size restrictions. Thermalright Ultima 90: 115(W) X 55 (D) X 139(H)mm. Was a great cooler in its time. Have to search to find one....or I could sell you mine. ;-) Or if you want NEW, there's the Noctua NH-U9B 95 mm(W) X 71 mm(D) X 125 mm(H) Those are t...

IMO, Thermalright MUX-120 is likely the best balance of size vs cooling vs cost for the i5-750. http://www.thermalright.com/new_a_page/product_page/cpu/mux-120/product_cpu_cooler_mux-120.html The supplied fan is very quiet. Not the smoothest sounding tho. Tom's Review here: http://www.tomshardware.c...

SPCR gave the slipstream pwm fan that comes with the Mugen 2 a glowing review. http://www.silentpcreview.com/article961-page5.html - But, you can't buy that fan in Canada. Or can you? Yes, you can, with a quirk. Scythe SY1225SL12HPVS KAZE-JYUNI Slip Stream 120MM PWM & V.R Selectable Fan 1500RPM - $1...

I've used some air conditioning / vent filters from the local hardware store. Need to go through the inventory to discover the right one. Paper ones are too restrictive. Spent $5 and a few minutes with scissors. Of course, you have to mount them with duct tape being a ducting product and all. ;-) Yo...

Looks like a slick chip the i5-6xx - Not one, but TWO LCD displays on chip where you can watch those busy little instructions whizzing down the pipelines. And it even has a removable cover to protect those instructions when they need some privacy. Find this out after I bought the plain non-LCD...

Use two 92mm Noctuas on the front of the solo to generate some positive pressure. That might fix all your problems except the paint. Thanks for the Noctura reminder. Might be worth a try.
