Re: CPU, GPU noise?

OK, I suspended the HDD in my system and it didn't make any difference to the noise level. I won't change it back yet though as it must make some difference. The majority of the noise comes from my CPU fan and then the GPU fan. I disconnected the CPU fan and it was considerably quieter although the ...

Oh right, so the rubber bungee absorbs the noise of the spinning? Good idea.

CPU, GPU noise?

Hi, I started a post on my system here: http://techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=74203 I haven't resolved the problem. Perhaps someone here could have a scan through and see if there's anything I've missed, or any of the other posters. In particular, as I mentioned a couple of times in the p...

Hi, Yea, the case may not be ideal but it was good value and it seemed to have very good airflow with lots of meshing. Cleaning fans once a month? Mmm, that'll take some getting used to. I guess cutting out the exhaust grill will be ok because the fan will be blowing the air outwards and so in theor...

OK, well I had to ask...given the overwhelming number of options, it's difficult to know exactly what to go for: i.e. case with PSU + fans, case+fans then separate PSU, or separates of all 3, which cases have good airflow, which don't, which cases have good sound damping, which don't, if I choose a ...

Hi, just wondered what people here thought about purchasing a laptop in preference to a silent PC set up. After all, laptops run very quietly and of course the space saving advantage. I think Dell sell laptops for not a lot more than the desktop equivalent. So, surely it makes sense to purchase a hi...

It would be very handy to reduce the fan speed and thus the noise level. I downloaded and ran speedfan, which gave me some figures for cpu heat and stuff. Fed up with the hairdryer

Hi, I currently have a Dell XPS 600 from 2005 - a high spec machine for the time but obviously past it now - especially in terms of size and noise. Apparently it's an SLI PC, which means it's noisier than the modern ones. I'm based in the UK and my realistic budget is about £500/600 ($800-900) The ...
