It's great to here that my AC Pro does well in your test.
I have one myself, cooling an AMD Athlon X3 425 @stock and I can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who needs a very quiet, budget cooler.

Re: Quiet workstation build (Core i3 or A10)
I agree with all of the suggestions made regarding the CPU. An i3 is overkill. I'd consider an AMD A4 or A6 or an Intel Pentium or Celeron. It must at least have two cores, however. Your usage will not make the CPU dissipate much heat so a cheap & quiet CPU cooler such as the Arctic Cooling Alpine 1...

There's the NZXT Source 210/220. You could perhaps also consider the Fractal Design Arc Midi which is practically a R4 without the noise dampening features.

I think it's very nice to see any tower CPU coolers in the 30-50 USD region. As the results show these can easily cool many contemporary CPU's. It's also nice to see some competition to the CM Hyper 212 EVO.

Re: Best solution for 1TB of data: WD Green or 2,5"?
No 1 TB 2,5" HD reviewed by SPCR has been as quiet as the quietest 3,5" drives from WD Green/Red. So go for a 3,5" drive. I don't know which variant to go by, but look at the most recent reviews of WD Green and WD Red. You'll have to suspend the drive in order to achieve as much as quietness as poss...

Re: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo as best buy?
The Cooler Master fans are not the best. Mine had a ticking problem. This could be anecdotal, is it generally known that Cooler Master brand, especially for CPU cooling, is not silence friendly? Well, you could say that reviews from SPCR have shown that the fan noise from Cooler Master fans is not ...

Re: New gaming/music creation Haswell system advice
As CA_Steve says you should also consider the Fractal Design Define R4 and the Corsair 550d. And I also agree with CA_Steve with regards to the 4770-t. It's practically an artificial limitation of a CPU. In general, ASUS has better fan controlling than Gigabyte. There are a lot of choices when it co...

Re: Silence the Silverstone 180mm Air penetrator ?
That's the reason why I prefer the Precision PS07 over the Temjin TJ-08E. Though the thermal performance of the Precision PS07 is worse than the Temjin, it's quite hard to make the Temjin quiet enough for SPCR standards. Plus, I do believe that an exhaust fan in the Precision would greatly improve t...

The components chosen don't dissipate much heat so I would suggest orden a fractal design r4 or a corsair 550d as these case have covers to block any noise going upwards in the case.

You could also buy a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO. Cooler Master fans haven't been known to be the best but you can always try out the stock fan. If it doesn't perform well then you can buy a Scythe Slipstream 120 mm PWM and replace the stock fan.

Re: New system - best step for correcting an issue?
Perhaps the CPU fans aren't compatible because they are 3-pin fans. Try plugging them into 3-pin fan headers and see if they are controllable. And I would remove the rear facing fan in any situation. It's simply not necessary for cooling the 3570 non-OC'ed.

I've read somewhere not a long time ago here at SPCR that a fanless solution consisting of a low-powered AMD APU isn't ideal for even small amounts of multitasking, i.e. running high-def videos while doing something in the background. So if I were you I would at least choose an Intel Sandy Bridge Ce...

The unpleasant odour could only be found with the Fractal Design R2. As the Fractal Design Mini was released around the same time as the R3, the problem should be resolved. I have never heard of any Fractal Design Mini owners who have complained about an unpleasant odour from the sound dampening mat...

It's quite difficult to guess. The Scythe Big Shuriken could probably handle the 100W APU but the small volume of the case will surely leave the CPU cooler starving for fresh air. Perhaps you could find a high-end 65W A10 or A8 APU. Overclocking is out of the question so don't bother choosing a K-ve...

According to this Anandtech review it is unwise to choose a modular PSU because it's longer (usually 160 mm vs. 140 mm for a non-modular unit).
I also don't see the need for RAM with a heatsink unless, of course, it costs the same as generic RAM.
