Re: Corsair F180 vs. Zalman S Series vs. Kingston SSDNow V+1
The Corsair Force series is built around the ever popular SandForce 1200 controller found in the OCZ Vertex 2/3, OCZ Revo, G.Skill Phoenix series and numerous others.
vertex 3 will use SF-2281.
other than that, it was fun to see an ssd make noise.

Re: Advice on a new system
1. you should be able to do this. i make no promises about performance though. 2.120mm in the front; and consider a semi passive psu, just in case heat pools up top in your case. 3.there are 2 micro atx boards that have dp&hdmi; but yeah, the safe bet is the 5750. other than that, i thought the spcr...

i think an obvious evolution on this design exists in my kitchen, as a double balloon whisk. it'd take up the same amount of space, but you could increase the length of the wires.

Re: USB3 at front of Antec P183?
what i dont understand is why motherboard manufactures didnt just slap a type-a usb3 socket or two on the motherboard internally. it seems like it'd take up less space than what ive seen of the header. its not like putting an internal socket on a board is a new idea either, you see it a lot on serv...

depending on OPs needs, two lower end video cards might do the trick fine.

check out the ssd reviews here
as for a solid temporary ssd? intel 40GB or ocz agility2 would be solid performers, while certainly not matching the performance of the next gen drives that are coming into existence.

Re: watercooling vs. good air coolers
fake water cooling things like that are gimmicky. they really only make sense if youre running a hot overclock in something like a sg-05/6 performance wise, they do get handled by top end air coolers that are in their price range. even slightly less expensive, and much more less expensive coolers li...

strange, but now that i think of it, i dont remember really seeing hot dog carts anywhere other than NYC, maybe a random vendor here or there, but nothing like nyc. about the flights: i always book an emergency exit seat. and grab the window. i'll pick a flight based upon the availability of those s...

yeah. with it running at 7v, it will start at low.
you might want to try 5v though, if it starts for you then you'll be even better off.
Edit: starts at 5v, on low as well.

Re: NZXT H2 - A worthy successor for P180?
NZXT has always made cheaper cases than Antec but the Hush is a high-quality case. im not saying nzxt makes low quality cases, im just saying that they're kinda targeting a different market. All included features including Hot-swap marks should be features of a higher priced case. From the looks of...

Re: NZXT H2 - A worthy successor for P180?
given the price difference, and the features, i'd say its aimed more at undercutting fractal design than aimed at the p180 cases. i'll wait for more details before judging the performance, but from the specs it seems kinda light. we'll have to see if that translates to more pronounced vibration. i l...

data is written and read in the exact same fashion.
what youre probably worrying about is partition alignment in windows xp with an advanced format drive. you'll need to follow the manufacturers directions to make sure your drive is aligned properly under windows xp.

Re: Seasonic X650 and Antec P183 Airflow?
the p183 has at least 20mm more space than my mini p180, and more airflow potential with the opening at the front of the case. so airflow wouldnt be a problem. as for the charts: the x650 is quieter until you start pulling more than 250w. if youre not planning on pulling more than that, then what th...

A 1T Caviar Black is my favorite for working data. I feel safer with my data on it. To me reliability takes precedence even over noise. Re: Is my CPU fan going bad? And how do I replace it?
i would definitely recommend removing the heatsink to swap the fans since you dont want to be torquing on the heatsink trying to get the fan detached. Why open that can of worms. How hard is it to remove a fan without applying torque to the mounting. If you want to be extra careful, remove the boar...
