Re: Alternate Cooling Setup for Asus GTX660 DC2O
Just installed it all and it works great. GPU maxes out at 63 while gaming and things are totally silent. Loving it.

Re: Alternate Cooling Setup for Asus GTX660 DC2O
Thanks for the replies everyone. I mounted an accelero S1 to my old Radeon 5670 and I found it never quite fit right, plus I want to avoid voiding the warranty on my asus so I think I will try just the stock heatsink first and then go from there. My thought with the positioning of the fan was to get...

Alternate Cooling Setup for Asus GTX660 DC2O
So in the obsessive quest for silence the graphics card fans need to go. They are currently the only thing making noise and have recently developed a squeaking noise which occasionally starts up (my wife thought we had mice last night). The parts: 1 Gelid 1-4 PWM fan splitter with molex power (may s...

Re: Looking for feedback on new silent PC build
Ya looks like a great build. I would echo others that you could get a lower watt power supply (650 or 550) and be fine. Also what resolution are you gaming at? If 1080p the 760 will work for at least a few years, asus makes a great card. Don't get the i7 processor, just a waste for your applications...

Re: Best Heatsink, cost not a consideration?
I think there is a very simple answer to you question: If you want a high quality heatsink that will last plenty of builds with excellent fans look no further then Thermalright or Noctua. If you are worried about ram clearance go with the slim noctua coolers: NH-U14S or NH-U12S. They will provide si...

Cloning a System Drive for an Upgrade
Hello All, I know this isn't really a silent PC issue but I trust this forum more then anywhere else on the web for general system advice and troubleshooting. I am upgrading from a Crucial M4 128Gb SSD to a Samsung 840 Evo 250Gb SSD (finding the 128 A bit limiting). I reformatted a couple of months ...

ASUS GTX660 Fan Clicking?
Hello All, I bought an ASUS GTX 660 DC2O a couple of months ago and was so impressed with the sound. Couldn't hear anything outside of the case and it performed beautifully. A couple of weeks ago though the front fan developed a hi-pitched clicking noise which is clearly audible outside of the case....

Re: Gainward GTX 460 SE and Deepcool V6000 fitting problem
The way the heatpipes are set up with the deepcool it does seem impossble to modify it. Check out the Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo 2 http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/vga/375/accelero-twin-turbo-ii.html?c=2182 it looks as though you could cut the aluminum at the end to allow the DVI port in the middle ...

Don't get me wrong, I love noctua (as you can see from my sig) just adding speakers/mics, small processor and circuitry to a fan has got to be expensive. Plus your R&D

Re: Noctua fans ticking all of a sudden
I've tested under voltage control and under PWM control (motherboard and Zalman rheobus with PWM). In both case I found it accoustically inferior to the NF-P12 PWM...or other fans. I was expecting more from a such designed (and expensive) fan... I tested both under PWM control only. At the lowest i...

Re: Parts Recommendations
Just curious, why are you doing a new build? That system is still pretty top of the line and the 2500K is still one of the best processors. If you did some fan swaps and added an aftermarket on your 580 you could easily make that build silent. If you have to do a new build I would agree with you tha...

That thing is just ridiculous. Graphics cards are going lower power so why do you need a stupid cooler like that just to cool the core?

Re: Best Case for the Inevitable GTX 680
One of the nice things about the PS-07 is the heat sink holder for tower coolers. I have done 2 builds with gelid tranquillos and it makes a 120mm towe cooler really secure. IMO, if you like noctua (I sure do) I would get a u12p se2 take the 2 fans and put them on the front of the case and grab a nf...

Re: Best fans for my corsair 550d silent pc build
If you look at the front fans in the SPCR review there are 2 120mm jammed next to each other. 140mm wont fit. Also the C-12 still comes with non pwm fans as far as I know and for the cpu fan header i think that asus boards still only accept a PWM fan. You would be better off going with a tower coole...

Re: Just pick the case!
Again, components are always more important then the case. Based on reviews and people here though I'd go the Fractal (if those are your only 4 choices)
EDIT: Plus as a bonus u could get it from Mike and support the site (check out SPCR clearance)! That is if shipping isn't horrendous.

Re: Mac Mini (choosing and customizing)
The mac mini uses a small, blower style fan for cooling. These are typically not silent, If you had to have a mac and need it to be silent a hackintosh may be the best bet.

Re: Antec P280 or wait for Corsair 550D?
I like the corsair better for their moduvent system. Also if it is running hot a side fan will make a big difference and there are filters everywhere. Plus it looks better lol.
I say wait, 1 month cant hurt.

Re: Build: Lian Li PC-X2000F, Silverstone FT02, or Antec P28
It seems as though you like the lian-li case best but I agree that it is crazy overkill and you would not be using most of its features. I would check out other Lian li cases, since you won't be worried about a graphics card anyways you really don't have any concerns sound wise so anything with dece...

http://www.silentpcreview.com/article63-page2.html The recommended list :). Old list which does not include any PWM fans so it does not help him much. The PWM slipstreams are nice and inexpensive, I have one on my U12P SE2 and it is near silent. I have also heard good things about the arctic coolin...

Re: high end silent case
To be honest, I've never gotten the rave about cases being a silent factor. Most modern cases have 12cm fans in the front and back. That's the most important thing. Cooling performance will depend on what kinds of fans you stick in there. A front door will muffle the noise, but will also greatly re...

The whole point of the silverstone is positive pressure with that 180mm if you remotely think you are going to remove it don't get that case. Re: Is this a good build?
Well Lian li is aluminum which is lighter but may flex a bit more. The silverstone has a better interior to work in but the fit is not a nice (ie side panel catches aren't well made, tray can flex a bit. They are honestly both good choices like I said the lian li is more work though.
