Re: SPCR's Updated 2012 Small CPU Heatsink Test Platform
For the Noctua NH-L12, when only one fan underneath was mounted, was the fan blowing up or down? If the fan airflow direction was pointed up towards the fins, I'm wondering if it would be possible to test it once the other way to see the difference in temperatures (120 mm reference at full speed wou...

Mini p180 revision in the works?
I've been looking for the mini p180 recently and a lot dealers have said supplies are halted right now...does anyone know if there is a new revision on the way or what's going on with it?

Hmm, Now that you mention, I actually DO miss my noisy computer.. I used to have a Dell Optiplex, which was quite noisy, its not that I miss the noise, its more like I miss the computer.. The noise was like it's voice, and it's goonee~ Hmmm.. the days I've spent playing FFXI in it! Oh dear...of all...

Do any of you ever miss a noisy PC?
At times I do...not a really noisy one but the slight hum it'd have. Without it, I start to notice things such as noises from the outside like chirping cicadas (muted of course by my windows). Small things I do like twitter my fingers or writing on paper is more noticeable now and these noises I thi...

Nice review and it mirrors my experience. I agree with the previous comment about suspension being needed for 3.5" drives. Having a front fan blowing on it works wonders for the temps, and it doesn't even have to be a lot of air, so any quiet fan bumped down until you can't hear it (still spinning o...

yah, it sells decently well because it's familiar, relatively easy to install and previous consumers probably recall good performance, at least better than stock, and don't really follow the newest designs in cpu cooling. They've kinda established the design as a safe bet, and so it can be found pre...

Hey qviri, nici, and vahagn, thanks for your input on the ghosting issue, I guess i'll just have to change my key positions. Hey nici, reminds me, I still had one of those old ibm keyboards sitting around in a closet almost untouched and pulled it out. It was one of my favourites in the past; I like...

qviri: heh, this issue seems to only pop up in shooting games  . but anyway, if you do have any shooters, then first let's assume u have movement keys WASD. Setting E to say, crouch, you might be in situation where you are moving diagonally and crouching...so, WDE is held down. In this positio...

Thanks for the advice Bluefront. I don't do most of those things, except heavy running and the motorcycle thing. Guess I should consider a bike for exercise. Still, most likely a number of us young ones will continue to do rather hazardous things as at this age, we don't really feel our bodies break...

I currently don't have a PC to use and thus notebooks (IBM, Dell's, MBP) have been my main uh, PC. What I like about it is the tidiness and ease of general handling it offers but I do miss a regular computer for a few reasons. First, maybe it's because I live in a real quiet neighbourhood, but I hav...

I think all of their mid-high end opticals from a year or so back make a high pitched whining as well, I usually listen to music tho so it's not a prob. Judging from the pics, that's one sweet looking laptop . I recall hearing that a while back, LG used to work with IBM in producing notebooks, and that they still have some ex-IBM engineers on teams that make the high end models for LG. Could you echo in on the build quality (ie if the screen ...

Nice article Mike. By any chance, is there a possibility that the mobos might not be that efficient at handling either low or high power? Since there aren't really many other mobos to test along side with, that answer might be tough to answer but the system power draw looks like it could be lower fo...

Great review! With an nvidia 7800, which runs cooler, a fine gaming (but expensive) passive system could be built. But I wonder, with that graphics card that is built so that the gpu is on top of the card, would the heatsink be able to be attached? Also, I remember a previous link with the older TNN...

It seems that hard drive is mounted at the front. Is that wise? If it was me I would have planned the case to put hard drive further to the back since this is supposedly a HTPC case and HDD moise will be much more noticable. That's why you don't work for antec . Anyhow, if the plan was to swi...

How smooth are the drive rails? Most of antec's older cases I've worked with were somewhat rough; the cd/dvd-rom drives in some slots would need a bit of a wiggling to get in and the sides were abit rough as well. This led to scratched up drives...though a moot point since it didn't actually hinder ...
