Hm, I will probably get one WD20EARX.
One more question. Some sources report, that WD20EARX has variable platter rotation speeds. Is that true? Will the drive spin up and down from time to time? Are such things audible? ;]

Re: New HDD and few issues (head parking, 4k sector)
Oh, thats good. Do you or someone else know if its working with WD drives only? Since I have informations about these issues, can you recommend the HDD itself? I am considering WD20EARS, Samsung HD204UI and Seagate ST2000DL003. Vibration level is not that important, as the drive will be suspended, s...

Re: New HDD and few issues (head parking, 4k sector)
Thank you for reply.
I use GParted, so its not a problem.
How about head parking? Is it possible to switch it off with software like QuietHDD? Also (assuming the answer is yes), that software must be running all the time, or can I just once set parameters responsible for this and close it?

New HDD and few issues (head parking, 4k sector)
Hello, spcr users. My current HDD is 500GB Samsung F3. I was quite happy about this HDD, but lately its louder than before. It's working great, HDTune says its ok, but airbone acoustic level and the vibration are much more annoying than before. Also I ran out of space. I am looking for new HDD. The ...

Re: Help me with budget graphics card
Well, you are probably right.
My goal was to buy quieter, maybe a little cooler and automated card, with similiar power to my current card. Since its impossible in satisfying price, I will try to stay with current card and maybe switch or slow fan.

Re: Help me with budget graphics card
I would have gladly used accelero s1 at the very start (since used one cost 10 USD), if only I had have enaugh room for it in my PC. Whole card with cooling has to be maximum 2 slots tight.

Re: Help me with budget graphics card
Thank you for such deep look into my problem. I am familiar with electronics and fan controllers. I can make similar thing or buy even cheaper in Poland, but I thought that different card would be more convinient to use - just set fan speed on auto, or set fan speed depending on temperature of the c...

Re: Help me with budget graphics card
Start to show your region: how can we advice for a price/performance ratio, without knowing your local prices? I didnt thought about that, you are right. I'm from Poland and apparently here prices are little higher. Used 9600gt/HD3850 costs about 130 zł, which is about 45 USD. Radeon 6570 which N7S...

Help me with budget graphics card
Hello. Sorry for my poor english. Here is my problem: I am looking for silent graphic card, but I only have like 50-70 $ to spend on this. So I think something around 9600gt or radeon 3850 would be good. I would of course get passive gigabyte 9600gt, or accelero s1, but I have very limited space in ...
