Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
Well I was told the ASUS DCII was comparable and quieter, but I'm afraid it wont fit due to its size. Based on the hierarchy chart at Tom's Hardware and the PassMark benchmarks I've seen, I really do want a GTX 570. For price vs. performance, it seems like the best card for my budget. I'll have to d...

Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
Being my first build, would probably take me considerably longer! :D I'm eager to get all the parts and get started. Just got a reply from Thermalright support, seems they have stopped production on VGA coolers since the market is too tough at the moment for aftermarket coolers. They're keeping an e...

I will keep that in mind thanks. I may or may not use two cards, definitely wont initially.markanini wrote:If prices are any cheaper and you wont use dual SLI consider Gigbayte UD4 to be a solid alternative to Asus for the mobo.

http://www.thermalright.com/where_to_buy/ I think it came to the market this year, and has every other aftermarket GPU air cooler beat in every review I've read about it to date. http://www.thermalright.com/products/index.php?act=data&cat_id=30&id=164 edit: This is how I did the hdd suspension in m...

Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
So from reading reviews and searching this website, the ARCTIC Accelero S1 VGA Cooler seems to be the VGA cooler of choice. However, I didn't see the GPU I planned to buy ( GTX 570 ) on its compatibility list. (1) Am I reading all of this correctly that the Accelero S1 Cooler is not compatible with ...

Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
Based on some posts in this thread, I think I will use one of the fans to replace the CM 212+ fan, then replace the two stock fans, and then try to look for a cooling unit for my GPU. I'm still having problems finding a Thermalright Shaman (as Deucal suggested) but I did find a couple of lists with ...

Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
All computers can be made more quiet with a little work. 1st, get a nice big heat sink with a quiet fan off the spcr recommended list. 2nd buy Thermalright Shaman gpu cooler for your gfx card. It's big, it's quiet and can be transferred to other cards in the future. Plus the stock gfx cooler will b...

Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
In the details, it says: 4-Pin Peripheral Adapter Provided To be versatile, this case fan comes with the 4-pin peripheral adapter. So I should be good there. Back to the MB for a second though. That MB has two 4-pin CPU connectors (one will be the CM 212+ correct?), one 4-pin and one 3-pin chases fa...

Just an example: 2 x CPU Fan connector(s) (4 -pin) 2 x Chassis Fan connector(s) (1 x 4 -pin, 1 x 3 -pin) 2 x Power Fan connector(s) (3 -pin) So what is this telling me exactly? :D The p183 comes with 2 120mm fans but can house 4 120mm fans correct? I bought the CM 212+ (120mm) and bought 3 of the fa...

Well I planned to OC but decided to see how things work without at first. I probably should still get a MB that will support OC though just in case I decide to do it down the road. I'll do some more reading this week, see what I can find out. What exactly am I looking for? Will it just say PMW enabl...

 I'm just going to ignore you at this point. You aren't trying to help, you completely missed what I'm trying to do, and basically are just trolling at this point. As far as the topic of the thread, I've read up on some of the fans suggested and think I'm going to go with Scythe Slipstream PWM...

Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
Have you found it difficult to do modifications to the case? I have someone that will help me but not entirely clear on how much of that stuff he gets into. Most of the machines he builds are used for businesses, doesn't get into gaming machines much. Three builds in, I haven't had any trouble. Kno...

Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
I think I was pretty clear with what I was looking for. A quiet part isn't necessarily a slower or a more expensive one. You bought a Z68 while you don't need caching (it won't be effective) nor the IGP. So you paid more for nothing more than a proven P67. You picked a P183, a very good case (I own...

Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
I guess I'm unclear as to whether you're willing to swap parts or not. Sounds like you might be open to some substitutions. I like the parts I have picked out so I am not really willing to swap them. I am more looking to do what I can to keep noise down, not necessarily looking for the most quiet m...

Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
From newegg, you can buy the well-known Scythe Slipstream 120 mm (500 rpm) for 10 USD. The good thing is that they don't need any undervolting. This review by SPCR may be helpful to determine how much (or how little) airflow is needed to cool somewhat similar components. I will check it out. Thanks...

Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
I know my new build wont be as quiet as it probably could be but I want to do what I can given the parts I decided to buy. I don't want to look like rude, but none of the parts you have already bought is quiet, and there's nothing or very little you can do about quieting them (just swap the case fa...

Re: Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreci
Are you based in the UK?`Because quietpc.com sells Nexus 120 mm fans for affordable prices (the reference fans here at SPCR for testing CPU heatsinks). They need voltage control, though. If you're on the cheap, then you could buy a CM 212+ and put on another quiet fan. The heatsink itself is only a...

I was folding but quit due to the condition of my current rig. It is 7+ years old and needs every single bit of power it has just to run. :D Chances are I will continue folding once I have a new rig. Looking for quiet cooling for Antec p183, advice appreciated
Hello everyone. I've been piecing together a gaming computer over the past 3 months and just purchased the Antec p183 case to house all of my components. Be forewarned that most of this stuff is above my head and this will be the first computer that was not store bought (someone with experience will...
