Re: Prolimatech Genesis CPU Heatsink: Retaking the Crown
Quick question: What should a 120 exhaust fan speed be like to effectivelly exhaust the air out of a solo case (for example) if your cpu would be cooled by a prolima genesis with both 140 fans on??? I have a Prolimatech Genesis with 2x Prolimatech Vortex 140mm fans on the CPU (using an i7 3770K at ...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 launches
Both of the Silent Series R2 140mm fans that came with my case made ticking noises (very easy to hear side on) and so did a third Silent Series R2 140mm fan I had purchased for the side vent. I've sent the separate one back for a refund, and I've replaced all of them with Prolimatech Vortex 140mm fa...

Dampen HDD Spinning Noise in Fractal R4 without an Enclosure
I have four Seagate Barracuda ST2000DM001 hard drives in my Fractal Design Define R4 case which are mounted in its hard drive rack using the sort of elastic material described in Mike Chen's original hard drive suspension piece . This has eliminated the vibrational problems I had before, however now...

Re: Seasonic X-1050 and R4 case
I'd like to note, perhaps for those that may come across this thread in the future, that the X-1050 does in fact make a whine, as does the ASUS GTX 670 DirectCU II. However, these noises are only audible with your head right next to or pretty close to these components; I wouldn't have even noticed i...

Re: Seasonic X-1050 and R4 case
I have my R4 now, and can state that it is the case that the X-1050 fan does not completely stay inside the fan area in the bottom of the case; it goes over by about 1cm. However, this hasn't really presented itself to be an issue so I wouldn't consider it to be much to worry about.

Re: Seasonic X-1050 and R4 case
However I don't know how much of a downside there is to having a PSU that has much more power than required, particularly at low loads (like using Word or Excel)? I understand that it can be less efficient when using lower power, but how much of a downside is that? A lot? Is inefficiency the only c...

Re: Seasonic X-1050 and R4 case
I've recently built a computer using the Seasonic X-1050 and will be using the R4 when it arrives in the coming weeks. The explanation, as far as my use case goes, is that it is one of the quietest PSU's SPCR has ever reviewed. The lesser wattage models get louder as they get close to their maximum,...
