Re: Silent workstation: 4770K, GTX 780, Obsidian 550D
Pretty. What are the idle and load temps? Does the PSU fan ever turn on? It's probably not the best time of the year for a temperature read. Today was almost 40° in Sardinia, Italy, and my friend decided to make the PSU active (there's a switch as you probably know), at least for now. Anyway, idle ...

Re: Silent workstation: 4770K, GTX 780, Obsidian 550D
Nice build, really interesting, i never seen the Macho 120 installed, i have recommended in the past on builds below 160mm, but never really seen it on a build. I'm interested, in case you can, into whats the PWM range of the 120mm fan from thermalright, as in TY140/141, used Thermalright on the St...

Finally, the pic of the final build: http://imageshack.us/a/img13/5528/t5q7.jpg A no-nonsense motherboard. No OC. http://imageshack.us/a/img541/8838/fr0m.jpg This is how 32GB of RAM look like. Stock clock & voltage. I couldn't find the low voltage Ballistix I bought for my system. http://imageshack....

Quick question: Seasonic X-750 orientation?
I'm doing a new build but I have some doubts about the correct orientation of the Seasonic X-750 in an Obsidian 550D case, which has the typical positioning of the PSU in the bottom with the grill for sucking in. The stickers on the PSU are a bit strange: some upside down, some not. The manual seems...

Re: Silent workstation: 4770K, GTX 780, Obsidian 550D
I went for a stock Zotac GTX780 with the standard cooler just like most of the other card. Didn't look for exotic cooling or factory OC (out of question on this machine), we'll see how good is in idle. Yep the software is gonna use the GPU pretty well, both in DX (gaming and 3DSMax) and OGL. It's de...

Silent workstation: 4770K, GTX 780, Obsidian 550D
No pics yet, just the specs for this workstation I'll be setting up this week for a friend. It's mainly a 3D editing & rendering, PS editing and game test machine (he's a 3D/2D artist for a game studio). It's going to be attached to a humongous Cintiq pen display. I'm trying to make it silent, but I...

Re: The "Geri" Haswell 65W build
Great build, nice to see someone else likes Define Mini :D Couple of questions, if you don't mind: 1) How do you like hard drive cages? Rubber grommets were very hard/stiff in my mini, so I really had to switch from older WD Green HDD to new WD Red drive. I highly recommend it for your next, it's r...

Re: Quietest GTX 650 Ti
Thank you both. So it's Asus or MSI (damn if this MSI is ugly!).
I think I'll wait and see if the 750 Ti is going to show up in July with a similar price.

Re: The "Geri" Haswell 65W build
I look forward to seeing more results when you power it up :) Especially interested in hearing about Gigabyte's improved fan control. What CPU cooler are you going with? Uh, I forgot to mention the cooler :J It's a Macho120, which should be pretty balanced with the setup since I'm not planning any ...

Re: Best solution for 1TB of data: WD Green or 2,5"?
gabedamien: From what I see from the specs on the WD page the EZRX is listend as just a bit louder than the EARX, which is also a little bit slower. As soon as I have time I'll try to look more for benchs, in the meantime if anyone knows the real differences... kuzzia: Do you reccomend suspending ev...

Best solution for 1TB of data: WD Green or 2,5"?
I'm almost done building a new rig, built around a 65W Haswell, silent cooler and PSU in a Fractal Design Mini. I was planning to use my old storage made of a Samsung 830 and a Samsung F1 for storage. Well, today I connected the Samsung on my desk via USB (actually my primary machine is a tiny 12" A...

Re: Haswell's C6/C7 low power states and PSU compatibility
FSP just replied to me with a complete compatibility list. I guess it's fresh news because I didn't see it posted elsewhere. FSP PC powersuppliers will be the best choice to come with Intel “Haswell” platformwhich is 4th ‐Gen Core iseries.Haswell processoris an upgraded design that will offersignifi...

Re: FSP Aurum 600W not the quietest, fan swap good idea?
If it is a Gold 80+, the amount of heat the PSU generates internally is puny. So I would have no hesitation whatsoever make the fan swap you're considering. A 1200rpm PWM would probably be perfectly fine. Just check the original fan and see if it really is a 4-line fan, because the photo from the x...

FSP Aurum 600W not the quietest, fan swap good idea?
I'm moving from an old noisy and power hungry setup to a newer one, faster and more efficient, but I'm considering if is really a good idea to swap the PSU too, a FSP Group Aurum AU-600 (gold rated, 80+) mainly for two reason: 1) it's a bit loud, and 2) may be overpowered. 1) noise: swapping fan? I ...
