Re: Please Critique My Build List

How can I tell how old the Windows 10 install media is? I'm planning on getting the retail version on USB. Will it be marked on the package/thumb drive? I may just use the Media Creation Tool to be on the safe side. I had just built my sister a Ryzen PC and the install stick that came with the new ...

394-1 v3: Overclocked Ryzen 8-core, cool & quiet

Just tidied this one up with a final dialing in of the overclock today. Good for gaming, content creation, and crunching many-layered audio. No pictures currently, but I will probably take some soon. Main System CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 1700x @ 3.80 Ghz 1.39v Motherboard: ASRock X370 Taichi AM4 BIOS v2.40 M...

Re: Please Critique My Build List

Late, but I just finished tweaking my own Ryzen system today, so I can give my thoughts. Specs are below: CPU: AMD RYZEN 7 1700x @ 3.80 Ghz 1.35v Motherboard: ASRock X370 Taichi AM4 BIOS 2.40 (Most recent BIOS, with microcode update to memory controller allowing for memory speeds above DDR4-2666) Me...

Re: GTX 1080 Review Compilation Thread

I would think the lighting power plug will be separate from the fan plug to control the effects...so, disable the lighting by pulling the plug :) True. If and when I get my hands on one, I will look into disconnecting it, and I will give my report on whether or not it requires anything to be taken ...

Re: GTX 1080 Review Compilation Thread

I am happy about the mention of no coil whine on the MSI Gaming X card though. My 970 was horrendous, and my 980 Ti whines almost inaudibly when stressed. On a slightly different note, EVGA claims that their updated ACX 3.0 cooler runs 10°C cooler and 30% quieter. But, that is subject to change sinc...

Aye. Although with how Scythe has been rehashing a bunch of coolers, I am curious to see if the do the same to the Big Shuriken line and release the SCBSK-3000.

Re: Silverstone Raven RVZ02

I like more the finish of the ML08 Btw the RVZ01 was SFX-L friendly, its not exclusive of this new gens. Overall i agree, i like its less thick and seems better though, but this is also at the expense of no case fans and smaller cpu cooler, so there are compromises over the RVZ01. True. The Scythe ...

Re: Silverstone Raven RVZ02

I've been looking at the photographs and I'm not sure how you can tell _anything_ about the case from them. I can't even tell where the mainboard would sit. Does it have to get even slimmer? At some point this just becomes too cumbersome. There are video reviews of it on YouTube. They can give you ...

Silverstone Raven RVZ02

The evolution of the RVZ01. I am more impressed with the design of this case versus the RVZ01, primarily because of the proper chamber separaration, SFX-L PSU compatibility, allowing it to be quieter with a 120mm fan on the PSU, and more. Not to mention that it is slimmer than its predecessor. My on...

Cryorig C7 compact cooler

I came across this while reading up on motherboards for a Mini ITX skylake build, and it caught my eye. It is apparently the exact size of the CPU keep out zone, with only a milimeter of protrusion on any side, measuring at 97mmx97mmx47mm (LxWxH). They claim that it is good for a CPU TDP of 100W, an...

Re: Phanteks Enthoo Pro vs Fractal R5

I use an Enthoo Pro, and the loudest parts in my system are the fans on my GPU (a 980 Ti), and that is only when they ramp up when the card is under serious load due to my rather aggressive fan power curve. Besides those, I have the two fans that came with the case, those being the front 200mm fan (...

Phanteks Enthoo Pro is my suggestion. Own and use one on my main machine. Wonderful airflow and liquid cooling potential.

Phanteks Enthoo Pro M

Got word of a new case that looks like it has potential. A smaller Phanteks Enthoo Pro (a case I own and love) is the simple way of describing it, and it doesn't really need much more description. http://phanteks.com/Enthoo-Pro-M.html http://phanteks.com/assets/enthoo-pro-m/Enthoo_Pro_M_7.jpg http:/...

Re: Fractal Design Core 500

With how popular AIO CPU liquid cooling is and the fact that this case has space for 3 HDDs and 3 SSDs, long GPUs (from other views of the case, no tall GPUs unless they are fairly short in length), AND a 5.25" drive (sadly, not at the same time as a 280mm radiator), you could make a hell of a shoeb...

Re: Fractal Design Core 500

It actually doesn't support SFX power supplies, only ATX power supplies.
