Alistair : I dont know why your temps are that high, mine never goes over 42c. Try underclocking the BUS to about 100MHz and see if that does it. Everyone : My chip of choice right now would be a Barton 2800, kick @$$! Only problem is that I dont know if I can spend the money, it's supposed to run ...

Was looking at some catalog pages and it seems the 370 Celeron had 256k cache, but the new one is only 128k cache? Is that right? No wonder. You are correct on both instances. The moble Celerons have 256KB of cache and the desktop versions only have 128KB. You must have seen a mobile version. If it...

Thank you for your help. i ended up ordering a 9500pro, and will get a Zalman heatsink for it next week. I must say, I cannot believe the difference it's made to everything on the pc. It looks fantastic! The only problem I have now is that any Mpeg or DVD files is jittery, but this isn't the graphi...

New question, 5v H1As?
I was looking at the datasheet for fans on the main page and saw that H1As at 5v has about 18cfm with 13db. This is a really good ratio!
I would have two of these, and these have about 7 more cfm than 5v M1As.
Any comments?

I have to say I dont quite follow you. But from what I gather you are trying to open more airflow so the fans buzz less? First off, the chieftec case vents are more than enough air in front. And second a large space would leave even more noise to escape because the bezel is not deadining some of it.

From what I've read on forums.anandtech.com in the CPU forum, the P4M will drop right into to any s478 p4 board. If that's true, then the Pentium-M (Banias) should be put right at the top of our recommended CPU list. You may be able to passively cool one of these puppies with a SLK900U or CNPS7000-...

my 8500 does not have any holes on it. So he must of poped it off with the epoxy. So aphonos your fears may not be so off. Other then what has already been mention maybe you moved a part. the little spools of copper wire ( the name escapes me now) can provide stablility which if damaged may let you...

The temp of my hard drive is normally 29C, but today its 36C, CPU 50C, and system is 42C :( No need to despair, 36C and those other temps are perfectly safe! Dont do any serious CDROM work, if you look closely CD lasers are supposed to be kept under 40c otherwise they can get so hot the can melt pa...

Re: 8500DV and ZM-17: Help
I was wondering if any has had following problem or any advice? I have experienced a problem with the ZM-17. I snapped off the original ATI 8500dv heatsink and fan, applied the adhesive (one on the core; other on the zm-17) and then when it had set, I reinserted it back into the pc. Immediately, th...

Maybe F@H, but for games currently they don't really take all the power of a cpu. usually it is more gfx card dependant. Like ut2k3 or AA:O. While C&C generals is slightly more cpu dependant and massive assault (a turn based game still in concept) take more out on your cpu but a 2.4 ghz p4 or it's ...
