I like the wit/sarcasm especially in the features section! Also, as mentioned above, I believe at CEBit or some other recent show, Corsair demoed their HX620 620W PSU running an AMD FX-74 Quadcore (2 sockets x dual core) with 4GB RAM and SLI 8800GTX, WD Raptor HDD etc. and it was running fine. Not s...

Software fan control I can't really help you with, as I use lm_sensors on Linux, but the Windows folks seem to like SpeedFan. That's all I wanted to know, is that I can connect the Scythe fans to the MB fan headers and then control them through software, and I would probably choose Speedfan. I'm as...

3) The P5B-E/Deluxe use 4pin 12V connector correct? I hope so because I can only find 4 pin extensions not 8. The P5B-E is 4pin, the Deluxe is 4 or 8, you choose. I chose 8pin, and got this extension: http://store.pchcables.com/8pinmafepoex.html Works perfect. That's for the info. I spent 30min sea...

I guess my post was a bit confusing and long, could anyone provide advice on my basic questions: 1) How many fan headers are on the P5B-E/P5B-Deluxe mainboards and can I run the CPU/case fans off them for RPM control through software? 2) Is it worth the extra cash for 520W -> 620W Corsair PSU for my...

workstation graphics have to perform better than gaming :? Really? From what I've heard, workstation graphics cards aren't very good at gaming because because their drivers are optimized for CAD (and other workstation apps I can't say for my self though) This is correct, the machines that the devel...

I would think you will be fine in passive mode with the Scythe as long as you are not overclocking and have decent airflow. I'm assuming you will only use your single optical drive? Having 3 IDE cables cluttering up your case will impede airflow and consume more power and thus generate more heat. Gl...

C2D P180B build - question about possible fan setup
Hi, I'm building my first PC since spring of 2003 (when I consulted this forum/site and built a P4 Northwood 2.6@3.2 in an Antec Sonata using good ol' Panaflow 92/120 fans!) and have a few questions. I've read a bunch of reviews/posts on the forum but can't find the info I'm looking for. First the s...

Hmm crap, I'm going to stop by the hardware store this weekend and see if I can find anything that might work for the 38mm. I've seen that website where you can order isolaters, but the exchange rate and shipping will probably cost more than the actual isolators. I've had no luck trying to screw in ...

Antec Sonata help - mounting fans?
Hello, I'm having another few little problems with my new Sonata setup. I want to mount a Panaflo L1A 120mm behind the drive cage because I am running a Raptor which gets fairly hot, also curious if it change temps or not. Anyway, I am finding it nearly impossible to screw the fan in place, especial...

Well all is well now, got it booted and installing XP. Just noticed my new enemy: the dinky 40mm fan cooling my old Geforce GTS2 (until I get a new card in a month or so) the thing makes an awful rattling noise, it's coming off and being replaced ASAP. The CDRW drive is also very irritating. Fans ar...

Oh my god. I mounted the rails on the lower set of holes and was trying to push the CDRW in and the rails were obviously blocked. I didn't understand how it works. Man I feel stupid, I just pulled all the powercables that were tucked away out too.   Thanks though :) back to building

Antec Sonata - Help with 5.25 devices ?
Hi there, I'm setting up my new machine using an Antec Sonata. Mainboard is already in and I am now trying to get my CDRW drive in. It appears you have to put 5.25 devices in from "inside the case" and slide them forward in the drive bay. Unfortunetly this is nearly impossible because of the stupid ...

Hehe nvidia forced Futuremark to shut up with the threat of a lawsuit. Personally I think the FX 5900 Ultra is the best card out there, because I hate ATI's damn driver issues. The 5900 Ultra is not as insanely loud as the 5800 (vacuum cleaner haha). The biggest problem of course is actually getting...

Panaflo L1A 92mm for SLK-900U - 3 or 4 wire?
Hi guys, Me again with another newbie question :) I have decided to go with a Canterwood P4 2.4C based solution and am going to be using an SLK-900U with a 92mm Panaflo L1A fan, running on an Asus P4P800 board in an Antec Sonata. I want to use the 7V CPU Fan lead to quiet down the L1A, but am a bit ...

How hard is it to remove a heatsink from a video card? Do they use some kind of cheap glue that makes it hard to pry the heatsink off without doing damage to the GPU? I have an old Geforce 2 GTS right now (holding out for the NV35 and Half-Life 2) with a really annoying bitchy little fan I want to t...
