ok, here are my results. It's been a day or two since initial installation and I've run a 3-4 hours of OCCT. In a nutshell, my loads temps have dropped about 3C. Not bad just for swapping out the TIM. Ambient temps approx 70F/21C Specs: - E6300 Pentium Dual Core 2.8Ghz (new 45nm Wolfdale, not old 65...

DFI 855GME-MGF + 1GB RAM + 1.4Ghz Pentium M CPU
This is a used DFI 855GME-MGF setup that I got a while back but never got around to using. Includes 1GB of Kingston ECC RAM and a 1.4 Ghz Pentium M (Dothan, 2MB Cache). Great for a low power server. Motherboard includes original boxes, cables, io plate, manual, etc. Here are links to the manufacture...

I will reiterate the warning about the 512mb limitation on intel 810 and 815 chipsets. I was pretty irritated when I tried to upgrade the RAM in my server at home to find out about this limitation. I'm planning on moving my server over to a via 694d chipset or to an old athlon xp setup I have (under...

how are you measuring power consumption? Xbit did so directly by tapping directly into the power lines to the video card and measuring current. If you are using an external monitor like the killawatt or power angel, you will also be reading system losses including the inefficiency of your power supp...

AMD is starting to stretch their PR rating a bit for the top end models, though I don't think it's as extreme as you say, But, whether you call it out of whack or comparable depends on what application you're benchmarking. Athlons have always smoked P4s in business type applications, whereas P4s are...

I agree with the sentiment here that current AMD and Intel CPUs put out relatively comparable amounts of heat. However, I believe that the primary reason that Intel CPUs are perceived to run much cooler is because until relatively recently, the power saving HLT/STPGNT state (used when CPU is idle) o...

So-Tricks's where I got my M1As from. He's a good guy to deal with. I got L1As there and Im gonna buy two more M1As to 5v for case vents. Unfortunately, it looks like they are out of them. I sent an email a few weeks ago asking if they were getting more in, and I received a cryptic "Just how many a...
