Thank you ronrem and jackylman once again. I certainly have fallen behind the times, 200mm is crazy! SPCR has reviewed the Barracuda 7200.10 series and found it's fairly noisy compared to the competition (and it runs hot too :(). In fact, I have a feeling they will easily be the noisiest things in y...

Thank you sincerely jackylman, and especially for answering each of my questions :) -If you're on a tight budget, I would get the S12-380 instead. It will have more than enough power for your system. Forgot to mention the S12-430 is already purchased (taking it from my previous rig!) -What C2D are y...

Advice for a golden oldie
Hey there fine people of spcr, I'm a friend from back in the old days of spcr when it was hard to get those silent bits and bobs (looking back at my thread archive is quite cute!) I used to be very up to date on the preferred silencer's hardware but other commitments since got in the way  I've ...

hitman47 -- It's for P4, not K8, so yes, it could be an issue for many boards with taller northbridge coolers, if the northbridge is closer to the CPU.-Ed Sorry, I meant that if (and hopefully when) the Thermalright XP-120 supports the K8, we would see fewer or perhaps no such northbridge problems....

Now I only see certain problems with NB's being passively cooled (like my Intel D875PBZ) ... HUGE ... but, I think, "bigger + quieter" is the way forward. Seems neat :). About the northbridge problem - it just occured to me that the Athlon64 nForce3 boards would not suffer from this problem, as the...

Check out the Acousti site, there's loads of reviews up now. Personally, I cannot wait for mine to arrive. Edwardng, are you sure the resistor drops the voltage to 6.5V? Its just one of the afore mentioned reviews, PimpRig, says it drops it down to 8.5V? I thought it was a typo, but: http://reviews....

Here's a comparison of a 92mm Panaflo L1A and an 80mm L1A (as well as other HSFs too) on an SLK900 at 12V, 7V, and 5V. Cheers for that Ralf Proper insulation of the case with something like AcoustiPack might also eliminate the sound from outside once the case panel is closed, particularly if your c...

Edwardng, just read your review of the Acoustifans, and you say: I tried putting a 92mm Acoustifan on the SP-94 but its proximity to the PSU fan caused a wind turbulence sound, so I decided to skip on the fan for the CPU HS Would this not happen to me too? Perhaps an 80mm fan would not have this tur...

Thanks mate that's exactly what I was after... If you can find a better 92mm fan (AcoustiProducts' AcoustiFan AF92CT is my recommendation), then definitely go with 92mm. The AcoustiFans were the exact fans I was looking at after their favourable reviews (well the AF92CT or AF80CT)! I'm not sure whic...

ThermalRight: 92mm or 80mm Fan?
I wanted to ask for some advice on the ThermalRight coolers such as the SLK-9 xx and the SP-9 x . I see that these coolers are generally longer then they are wider, such as length: 90mm, width: 59mm etc. Thus, I'm not sure whether to purchase a 92mm or 80mm fan for the Thermalright cooler I am looki...

What size is the SuperLANBoy? I notice that whilst the SLK-3700AMB and BQE are "super mid towers" and the Sonata is just "mid tower," the old LANBoy is only "mini tower." (Antec Case Comparision PDF) http://www.antec-inc.com/pdf/CaseComparison.pdf I'm hoping by the term "Super" that the SuperLANBoy ...

AntecRep- Regarding the new Super Lanboy, and the fact that "electric blue LEDs light up your game" I was wondering, is the only blue light source from the front fan? Simply because I am now considering this case too, and I don't want a blue light shinging from it at night - therefore, if I w...

you are kidding me  so it has the same grill as the sonata, it has rubber-gromet fan mounts and the front fan mounts between the bezel and HD cage as it should; brings me to the conclusion: what is the point in the Sonata :P !? IMO this case looks like it'll kick its behind :D One more point;...

OMFG!! Am I right in thinking that it now uses vibration reducing rubber grommets rather then the pants plastic fan mounts they used to have? I'd say so, cos looking at the manual (at the website http://www.antec-inc.com/pdf/manuals/3700BQE_uk.pdf) it says: we've included one rear-mounted 120mm cool...

Lite-On 165H Black Bezel @ UK :(
Was going to put my order through for a Lite-On 165H DVD Black Bezel @ OCS (theoverclockingstore.co.uk) just today!
