i finally manage to quieten my PC's enough to sleep with them on and you can't hear them with the TV on quietly in the other corner and now my monitor starts to make a very high pitched wine.

The only GFX card i've with a fan on it is my Radeon 8500 and I didn't really want to loose the fan due to cooking a £200 GFX card <IMG SRC="modules/phpBB_14/images/smiles/icon_cry.gif"> All my other GFX cards [Voodoo3, TNT2, etc] already have fanless sinks. I haddn't heard that one before. What about placing a papst 12db fan to cool the Zalaman VGA sink. At least it'd get a bit of air to cool it without adding lots of dbs to the noise.

i've got a 1800xp and it sits around the 40oC mark in windows and just reached 46oC after about an hour of tony hawk 3. I just swapped my £10 alu sink for a pure copper globalwin 25db one and haven't really noticed a drop in noise. PSU fans next!

gezzz. half the people I ask say it'll be ok and half say otherwise. Either way I've ordered one to try. my Hard drive atm isn't even warm. After several hours work it's just about warm, but not boiling hot. If it's too hot in the silent drive we'll have to improvise with a fan to cool things. 2 12d...

well now that I've 7v'd the PSU fan and turned off all the case fans without much more addded heat it's time to turn off and replace that mini jet engine.
