Suggestions for wall-mounted computer speakers?
Hello, I'm glad this section of the forums was opened. Last year I ran some wiring to the front and back walls of where my desk is in my office, but I didn't purchase any speakers. I'm running garbage speakers at the moment. I'd like to have a 5.1 system set up with the following characteristics: 1)...

This looks like a great choice for someone not using a video card.
I've always been very happy with Seasonic power supplies and I'm glad they now have a high-efficiency PSU in this wattage.

I was going to post celebrating getting back onto the first page, then I saw the post about Mike ending the website. Now I'm sad.

I haven't read the book, but I don't think anyone should write off mankind or the planet just yet.

Personally, I think you should strive to remove any possible bottleneck, and also you should think about what your future needs will be. Will you get a laptop, for example. Or will you be streaming movies through your x-box? I'd go with a gigabit router that has the latest wireless protocols built i...

I picked up one of the Kingston 40gb boot drives. It's only $3 a gigabyte, which is where hard drives were in roughly 2002. I've got Windows 7 on the SSD and I am installing programs on a hard drive. It's not difficult to tell Windows 7 where to put your files. The SSD is about half full. There may ...

I got the Sharp Aquos 32" "Gamer" model. LC-32GP3U-B I wanted a 1080p TV for futureproofing and I like the gamer model because it supposedly eliminates latency between the input and output signals, a must for Guitar Hero. It cost a little more, but I am very satisfied with it. I got it from beachcam...

This one can do 120 MB/sec read and 100 MB/sec write, has a two million hour MTBF, and comes in 32 and 64 gig capacities. It's a SATA II drive with a 2.5" form factor.
And I thought flash drives were slow and didn't last long!

Seems to me like a water-cooled system using convection only would not use a conventional water block because there is no input or output water flow, there is just a column of water. Why not use a "convection assisted" setup using an existing heatsink? You would have an existing heatsink with a larg...

I also recommend a passively cooled 1950 Pro. IMO the price/performance is excellent with these cards. My 1950 is not passively cooled but the fan on it is not terribly loud. I can play Oblivion on it with no problems. I just got Flight Simulator X, another demanding game, and the 1950 runs it as we...

Re: Intel Core 2 Duo Retail Cooler?
Hi, Will be buying a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600, I'm not planning to do any overclocking for a while, and will probably instead try to get the cpu to run at default speed on as little voltage as possible. As it will be the Retail version coming with a heatsink, was wondering what the cooling and noise ...

Here's a power supply that looks like it is passive, takes American AC power as input, and can deliver 13 amps at 12 volts output. That's 156 watts. http://www.trcelectronics.com/Cosel/r150u-12-n.shtml Pricey at $170 dollars. I think they have one that will take European power as well as one that wi...

Interesting, a very large, very flat heatpipe. I guess this would be mounted on the outside of the case, on the side that doesn't open up. The problem would be how to connect the heatpipe to the sources of heat (CPU+GPU). IIRC heatpipes have to be rigid in order to hold the vacuum inside them. So I ...

You could also drop down to the 550HT - WHOA - can this be right? FOUR 12 Volt rails supplying 18 amps each? Eight mobo's on 1 PS at 88% efficiency? What is the technical term for hubbah hubbah? That would be "DAAAAYYYYYYIIIIIMMMMM! But it looks like the total of the 4 rails is still limited to a t...

The advantage of the Pico approach to the multi-PSU approach would be less noise, less space used, and (possibly) better power efficiency. (Efficiency is usually better at higher loads than at low loads) I did a back-of-the-envelope calculation. A Seasonic S12-600 can supply 36 amps on the +12V rail...

That would be interesting. In fact, you could have more than one PicoPSU with the 12V inputs of the PicoPSUs modded to attach to the 12V output of a single normal high-capacity PSU. From the pictures of the PicoPSU, that wouldn't be too hard to do. All you'd have to do is make sure that the total nu...

Re: Undervolting exhaust fan of no-brand psu: problems?
My question is, though: should I expect temperature issues from the psu? or can I go with that modification? To my experience, assuming that the pc will not run heavy tasks nor games nor any other thing that should draw huge amounts of power from the psu, even with a so reduced amount of "refrigera...
