I've done a quick look around my usual places in canada, and a google search. I've only come up with their own site. But I think I'd be looking for the D12BL-12 correct? Perhaps I'll check my local junk electronics shop, perhaps I'll get lucky with something. Edit: May have found somewhere, anyone h...

Need new fans for P180
One of the fans that came with my P180 is slowly dying, I opened my case to find it stopped today, flicked it, it's still spinning, but, slowly, barely moving any air. I looked into buying some Nexus fans, but the only place I could find them (in Canada) is NCIX.com and they're $20.07... is there an...

Thanks for the replies. I realize I'll never get it as quiet as a normal machine, or atleast not on the same budget. But I'd like to try anyway. The machine sits next to my bed along with my normal machine now. I don't have an extra room to place it in anymore. I've already got my power supply. The ...

I used a thicker than normal Electrical Tape I found at a hardware store. It definately wasn't what I was trying to find, however it did the job fairly well!
An example.

Looking for a large case
Requirements: 10 Harddrives EATX Cooling for 2 Opterons, and of course the 10 harddrives As quiet as possible. I currently have a Yeong Yang YY-0221, an earlier version than the one currently available. No fan on the side for me, and the grills were much more restricting. Of course, the keyword, 'we...

Yeah that's all. I just thought it came with 4 for some reason, one in the front.ddrueding1 wrote:How many did your ship with? IIRC, it ships with 3. Just thought I'd post and say I bought this case over the weekend. I haven't had time to put my system in it, but I really like the case, and the feel of everything init. I've never had a case with this kind of quality, all the others I've bought have been cheap and you can cut yourself on everythin...

Thanks Ronrem, but I just bought a P180 and a new harddrive to replace a failed one. I don't really have the cash to buy external enclosures at the moment. The copper strip is an interesting idea... also, those 3 1/2 bays come right out, they're just screwed in. No sawing required :D Constructing a ...

Thanks! I was planning on staggering them between the 5 1/4s and the 3 1/2s to allow air to pass through. As it stands right now the drives are probably reaching around 60°C which is WAY too hot. My other machine with only 2 drives, and no airflow at all reaches 41°C on the hotter of the drives, but...

Adding heatsinks to HDDs
I've got a server with 6 drives in it. http://www.animekiksazz.com/images/Arstechnica/Side-Door-Off.jpg Now I know I should seperate them. But I was thinking of adding something else to keep them cooler as well as seperating them. One of these to each drive. At $4.95 a piece it's pretty damn cheap, ...

*praise praise* As soon as I saw this case I told myself I was going to buy it. Then I thought I should probably read up on it just incase, cuz well, impulse purchases don't always end up as good as you thought. At any rate, I've been looking for a case for the past year that met my requirements. I ...

Doesn't look to bad, I like how he's wired the IDE and FDE cables. I have those rounded ones, because they were easier to route through my double sided case. But I've still got tons of normal IDE cables lying around if I were to switch cases. Also the power cables I almost didn't even notice them in...

It has loads of grommetted drive bays I was just about to ask about that case, as well as the Antec PlusView1000AMG , the Antec SX1040BII and lastly this case the Acousticase Anyway the questions are as follows... I just thought I saw somewhere where I could get the heatsink for $45 or something. Oh well doesn't matter too much. $187 CDN isn't bad, the Western Digitals and Maxtors are above $200. I'm pretty sure I can live with the whine of the IBM for a few months after anyway, while I gain funds. I did chec...

Also, I have a 60 GB IBM in my other machine, I see it's not on the list, I was just wondering how well that rated, because if it rated decent enough, I'd use it as my C, knock off one of the 160 GB and buy the 36 GB Raptor for my C drive in my other PC. That's assuming that it's decently quiet, whi...

How much are those Samsung drives (in Canadian dollars if you can manage). I looked online not many people sell them, and if they do they don't have a price on their site. I'd probably go with 3 of them, so I'd be 1 drives less than what I'm at now. And the Antec Sonata case is $149 w/ PSU. The case...

I shut down Direct Connect and let the drives all turn off, man the room felt silent despite the fact I could hear the 2 rear fans the CPU fan and the PSU fans, plus my other computer. Otherwise I could just turn my machines off. So 2 drives have shared stuff on them, and the other I'm writing too, and ...
