None of those are quiet. The Sapphire is the best of them by far (I have one) and it is not quiet.

Re: Super silent graphic cards!
It is better to know which GPU models and brands are silent by default instead of having additional expenditures and installations. Most stock coolers suck. Simple. Period. If you want silence, you need a huge heatsink and a slow and big fan. I don't know any stock cooling solutions that does this ...

Re: Ultra Quiet, High Performance $2,000 Gaming PC
A lot of good component choices. Some thoughts: (i) You will need to replace the video card cooling if you are after silence. Something with (a) big fan(s) running at low speed like this (it works with the 680 so I assume the 670 is fine also but you should research to confirm): http://www.newegg.co...

Re: Looking for case with top chimney vent cap
You'll still get dust wafting in through the gaps, and especially through the honeycomb vent at the back of the PSU. How about a Demci Flex filter for the top vent? Easy to clean with a damp cloth, and uses a magnet to attach itself. You could use some magnetic strips to stick to the top of the cas...

Re: Asus P8Z77-V Pro: Xpert Fan Control for LGA1155
Why only Fan Xpert 2 for premium products? Why? (I know, a reason to buy their premium main boards). But I'd wish that Fan Xpert would be part of all their current-gen main boards! I got the bog standard ASUS P8Z77-V and it supports Fan Xpert. As noted in the article, the P8Z77-V is supported and a...

I really can't understand all the negativity. I read all the reviews and did the research and if you have a typical system (one 5.25 drive and 1 to 3 hard drives) I'm finding it hard to find any significant faults with the SOLO II. Subjectively, I like the clean design and lack of door (I always kee...

Correct. Since they don't list voltages on the overclock, it is not possible to determine whether all the motherboards are at the same voltages such that you could extrapolate to stock performance in relative terms.

Re: Intel DZ77GA-70K Z77 Motherboard: Waiting for Ivy Bridge
Hi guys, it seems that the high load power consumption was caused by the UEFI pumping up the multiplier to 39x rather than 34x which is standard for the Core i5-2500K. After re-testing I found the numbers were middle of the pack compared to the H67/P67 boards compared. I've updated the charts and c...

Re: Samsung 830 questions
Not relating to the 830, is your Asus Sabertooth Z77 motherboard noise-free? I am seeing a 40 mm fan on it, isn't it noisy? I haven't used the fans. If you are concerned about noise, I would avoid them. Removing the thermal armor is also a good idea since all it does is raise temperatures without t...

A very interesting discussion regarding why IB has such high temps (apparently, Intel did not solder the IB engineering samples to the heatspreader, but rather, used TIM. It is unclear if the retail IB cpus will be soldered like SB cpus):

I'm not able to ear a BeQuiet USC 120 or a Noiseblocker M12-PS at very low speed (400-450RPM), even at a few centimeters from the case, by night in a bunker, I mean in a well insulated and isolated house (french countryside). It's worth noting that this would only be an issue when using Lucid Virtu MVP in I mode (display plugged into the motherboard), not in D mode (display plugged into the graphics card). It's my OCD :). Thanks for the numbers; they make it much easier to conceptualize why Intel designed the board the way they did. Re: Radeon 7970 aftermarket compatibility?
Apparently, the 7970 and 7950 dies are recessed below the metal border (no one knows why) so regular coolers not specifically designed for these newer cards will not work with them as they will not make contact with the die. Given that I also have the Shaman, I bought the shim and will report back i...

Well, given the comments from Anandtech regarding Lucid's software, it appears that it is a bit of a mess at this time. It is strange though that no reviews discuss the software; maybe there is an NDA?

Re: Intel DZ77GA-70K Z77 Motherboard: Waiting for Ivy Bridge
Note that in the past using anything but video cards in PCI-E x16 slots was problematic (that may no longer be the case). Also, if you are using anything other than an Ivy Bridge CPU, if you install anything in that second PCI-E x16 slot, the first PCI-E x16 slot reduces to PCI-E x8 2.0 (I have no i...

With regard to the power draw, thanks for the chart, it's interesting how divergent it is compared to the hothardware one. Even if we assume that the bjorn3d chart is the more accurate of the two, at the very least, the power draw is equal to the Asus Z77 boards. Using the EPU feature on the Asus bo...

I actually almost bought this for my new build as it has an excellent layout but it has some design deficiencies that kept me from pulling the trigger (got the Asus Sabertooth Z77 instead - I will be removing the "thermal armor"): (i) Small Issue. My fanless PSU does not make any electrical noise that I can hear (however, the review on this site claims "you can hear the trace of buzzing and whine common to all power electronic circuits" so if that's true I don't think any PSU will ever be truly silent). While they don't make it anymore, the n...
