Hi guys. I've got an 8800GT and an unused VF900 sitting around. I know there has been a bit of discussion about this combination in this thread but has anybody tried it? Does it outperform the stock cooler at 5v? I'm pretty happy with the noise level of the stock cooler (its insanely loud at full sp...

This one is perhaps a little more sane than the 120mm model. It takes 90mm fans and is on sale now. Overclockers.com Review This new sink tops their ongoing P4 heatsinks list . What I find interesting about this sink is the way its constructed. The large overhang (if oriented correctly) would be won...

Or at least one with a copper mating surface area. I doubt we'll see a full copper model due to weight.benny_mankin wrote:They should really start making the copper version. It'll be more expensive, but I think it'll be worth it

It seems Sapphire is going to be using the new Silencer design as well.

... it must be the effect some SPCR members describe of the vga silencer acting as a huge heatsink dumping heat inside the case... That theory makes no sense. No matter what you use to cool a chip it will dissipate the same amount of heat. The VGA silencer may not vent all the heat out the back of ...

I found the mating surface of my silencer to be poorly machined as well. It made that nice ziiiiip sound as you ran your fingernail over it thanks to the pattern of ridges. I lapped her down of course  This isn't an oddity in the industry though. I've found it to be very hit and miss whether a ...

Did the tension bracket of your VGA Silencer break?
I've seen 3 cases of the tension bracket on VGA Silencers breaking during install so I thought I'd post a poll to see just how frequently it happens. The break happens when the screws are being tightened. You'll hear a crack sound as the metal splits from top to bottom near the center of the bracket...

About the gap guys.. if you look at one of these things installed on a geforce3 there is little to no gap . So I would assume that in designing their product to fit on as many cards as possible, AC decided on a length that comes up far short on many of the current gen ATI cards. My answer to the gap...

My SS400 according to Via MissionControl: V+5: 5.01V These values are almost perfectly stable. The SS400 shouldn't be too loud :? 80mm at 7V are quiet, but 120mm at 5V should be louder I would think. That was the same situation I was in, my fans were all undervolted, my HDD very quiet, and the PSU ...

I have the 24x version of the (52x24x52x) CD-RW drive in my comp. At full speed it isn't anywhere near silent, but I suppose it's better than it could be. At 12x (using CD-Speed or similar), it's pretty well inaudible but it often doesn't respond very well to CD-Speed commands. Supposedly these new...

Well, the VGA silencer will not fit on Geforce4 cards. Right now its Geforce3 and Radeon 9500, 9700, 9800 only. You'd have to use a Zalman heatpipe. As for whether that heatsink is enough to cool the card passively, I say grab one of the zalman fan brackets to blow down on it. I'm sure it'll be okay...

Crystal Orbs are loud but not Tornado loud. This cooler has a typical 3 pin power connector so its easily undervolted. I just got my SS-400AGX installed last night. It replaced a Sparkle 550w APFC unit with a wailing fan. Honestly, its not much quieter than the Sparkle. These two models are available in retail (I'm sure you are personally abusing them as I type this...
