i'd strongly consider the zalman vf700 over the nv silencer. i don't own either myself, however the general opinion i've formed based on reading posts on the topic has put the zalman above the silencer in terms of cooling per unit noise. perhaps someone else can chime in that has used both? thanks ...

i'm starting to shy away from the deskstar drives... i've had 3 die on me this year at home and 2 more died at work. all of them were under 3 years old.
