The main problem with the ducting is that u'll have to find a setup that'll suit you using the right materials that will be easy to work with, I've seen ducts made out of cardboard, metal, and plastic that has been supported by a wireframe :), rusty did a lot of design into his in desk PC and it sho...

<rant> maybe because thermaltake do a lot more flashier designs with their products, at the swap meets I've seen pretty much ONLY thermaltake cooling products for sale, most of the technical community (that is non overclockers) don't really care about the quality of their cooling solutions as long a...

with your case building u need to focus on how you are going to get cool air into the case and hot air out of the case, most built quiet cases I've seen have a non-direct air path into the case, ie, the noise can't just go straight out it has to bounce round a bit.... also u might try to focus on th...

if u look at the OEM computer manufacturers like HP, Compaq, Dell etc they do pay a lot of attention to the noise levels of computers these days, the computers built by your local computer store seems to be the one's that sound like jet engines taking off these days and by the fan nuts (I used to be...

good results from usage of the fan adapter there, in my experience with 60-80MM fan adapters they increase the temperatures of the heatsink for the cost of lower noise, this is because there is lower back pressure being pushed from the blades of the slower spinning fan, and the air get's crammed thr...

one thing that could improve the performance of a blow hole is to duct it with something like this http://store.yahoo.com/directron/f353.html that will ensure that the air from the outside is going straight onto your CPU heatsink and also will have the benefit of blocking noise from other sources fr...

umm also if you have problems and that stock heatsink doesn't come off properly u might actually have the heatsink held down with thermal epoxy, then u'll need the old freezer trick to get it off the board :), stick the whole board in something like a antistatic bag and then seal it up and stick in ...

[quote="powergyoza If you must have a clear case, you can spray the insides with EMI shielding spray. another ghetto way of doing it is using RTV silicon to stick the fans to the mounts, using something to introduce a gap (I used some glue sticks) and then cover the gap round the fan with tape... very easy to do, I did it with my ThermalRight AX-7 and a Panaflow L1A, but it'd work for case cooling a...
