Monitor opinions: LG 1920P and Samsung 193P

Hi all,

I'm looking for owners' opinions on these two specific models - does anyone have anything to say about either? Any comments on noise will be particularly welcome of course.

Thanks in advance,

Sam

If you're going for a passive cpu cooling solution, get the latest Thermalright SP97 with the 3 heatpipes.
Do you know of a review or system writeup where the SP97 has actually been used fanless? I'd appreciate a URL...

Sound advice from Ralf as always... I was just about to direct you to Ralf's own system, which is documented here:

http://forums.silentpcreview.com/viewtopic.php?t=6127

Most people here would agree that Ralf's system is a great example for anyone looking for fast and quiet.

Well - if nothing else, this thread has motivated me to reapply my own Arctic Silver II interface. It had been in place since I assembled my system (Athlon 1GHz @ 1.1 GHz) in early 2001. My Folding@Home plateau temperature is down from 70C to 58C... Superb! On the whole too-much-is-bad debate, I'm w...

Woohoo! I've just broken into the project top 100000. Page 2 status within SPCR also beckons this week. :D

Looks like Ugly_Dog and I could have a long fight on our hands; our production is absolutely identical this week. MORE COAL!

Here's a thought... If they haven't charged you extra, how about donating one to MikeC so he can sample the quality for himself? The UltraX should be the first keyboard in a new Recommended Peripherals section ;)

Glad to be here at last! Unfortunately I don't have much power to throw at the effort:

- Athlon 1100 MHz (168h/week)
- Athlon 1200 MHz (40h/week)
- Pentium 450 MHz (168h/week)

But hey, I'm already thirty places from bottom - and it all helps get the Mac mentalists riled, right? ;)

Have we reached a turning point?

I know I'm not the only one getting excited about what's happening in the industry at present. In the last two weeks there have been several really promising "quiet from the ground up" systems reviewed, not to mentioned the news about Pentium M... I really feel like the pressure applied by SPCR et a...

600W seems totally excessive! What kind of system are you planning to build? Have you checked out the various threads on these forums re: real-world PSU wattage requirements?

Ah, so at least if you *do* churn out garbage results, the system should catch them. However, this still means that you could in theory run a box which churned out garbage every WU, and never be any the wiser. It'd net you the points, but you'd be contributing nothing of real-world value, except to ...

That really is ingenious, Bluefront - I'm impressed also. The noise of a fan right at the front of the case has always put me off, and this looks like a great solution. It's far too much cooling for my current system, but it's a fantastic idea.
