Any specific fans that you would recommend for the ECE4252?
And what about HDD coolers? Are they any quiet?
Thank you

HDDs and fans
Hello, SpeedFan reports that my new Samsung HD401LJ is idling at 46C right now, which, from what I've gathered, is an alarming temperature. My CPU is at 45C and my motherboard is at 38C. I know next to nothing about case fans (never felt they were required up to this point), and I would appreciate a...

Update
Well... Sorry to revive this thread, but I figured I'd try my luck. I still have the same problem (as described in the first post); however, it's now even more of a problem, as I just switched my Samsung SP0802N with a Samsung HD401LJ (it's just as quiet, by the way, with louder seeks). The HD401LF ...

Thanks for the ideas, Unfortunately, no matter what I try, the same end result is achieved: a DVD drive that's not enslaved to the HDD will make Explorer windows crash (the disc, be it CD or DVD, will start spinning, then abruptly stop). I even tried to use my old CD drive as the secondary IDE maste...

Hi Andy, Thanks for taking the time. I wasn't too explicit at first because I wasn't even sure if anyone would respond, but I'll throw in some more "hints": ~ I'm using Windows XP SP2. Were I courageous enough, I could give Millenium a try and see how it handles things. ~ DVD drives work fine in DOS...

SP0802N will only accept DVD drives as its slaves in Windows
I've always had nothing but trouble when it comes to installing DVD drives. That is, the things simply cannot stand being masters on their own Secondary IDE cable. The only way that they can work under Windows is by being set as the HDD's slave. This frustrating "solution" is only slowing things dow...

I did set it to /quiet with that utility, and it's still as annoying as ever. No change in noise. Interestingly, DTemp tells me AAM is now set to medium, whereas the Maxtor utility was supposed to set it to its lowest. I returned the 7200.7 simply because it's not what I wanted - I'll get the Samsun...

So, do you think it would be worth giving up on the 'cuda 7200.7 for either of them? For the silence freak, that is, and not the performance seeker. I found detailed specifications for each of them. SP8004H and SP0802N The SP0802N does boast vast improvements over the other one in certain categories...

Yes Mike, I live in Québec and ordered from PC Canada. Can't order from Newegg. These don't seem to be the same. Which is better? This is confusion at its best. http://www.pcwcomputer.ca/product_detail.asp?part=HD-SAM-SP8004H http://www.directdial.com/ca/shopsamsung/item/SP0802N.html I may also have...

Got a 'Cuda 7200.7 instead of a IV, should I return?
Hello, To make a long story short, I ordered a 80gb Barracuda IV (I coudn't believe my luck) and instead received the 7200.7 model. It turns out there was a mistake on the website, but the crooks won't admit it. Now, keeping in mind that I want the most quiet 80gb possible, I'm wondering if I should...
