"I have been thinking obviously of a fanless PSU, as my low power system should have no trouble with one of these" im having a lot of luck with a fanless silentmaxx 350.. altho there have been reports of these units dying, its run so far for the last 8 months: 3200+ venice 2GB Ram X800XL spinpoint 1...

But does it have those annoying Red LEDs? I don't think so. That's the "Fatal1ty" version. I believe the non-fatal1ty version has quite bright LEDs too, i think Ed noticed that with his latest build. my AN8 ultra does, thats non fatality, non SLI. could you elaborate on those issues? SLI support wa...

I haven't noticed more vibrations from my 7200.7 160GB than from any other drives. It does have more seek/write noise than its predecessors due to patent issues w/ AAM, but the low-frequency vibrations are pretty much the same as in other hard drives I've had. I personally like to hear at least som...

While I'm not arguing with you regarding your comments about Panaflos, zuperdee , I must warn you that saying bad things about Panaflos is sure to make you a few enemies around here... Goodness, I hope not. I'm not trying to make enemies--I am stating my opinion based on actual experience with them...

That also depends on the consistency of your TIM. The white crap that came with my Vantec Aeroflow will press out with ease, but the Arctic Silver V I have is far more viscous and it would take massive pressure to squeeze it out even close to as thin as it ought to be. -Ed have you tried warming th...

I would hope any fan would be inaudible at 700 RPM. :D You'd be surprised. For some fans the "click" get worse as you undervolt them further, so they actually get louder (or at least more annoying) as they get slower. thats exactly what i found. i think the clicking noise with some fans remains con...

I used the resistor to knock the 92mm Zalman fan that came with the FSB123 down to 7v and it still was obnoxious. Needless to say I changed the fan to a panaflo and never looked (or listened?) back. i tried four papst low airflow 80mm's, two 92mm's and a 120 then some panaflo 92mm's (three 92mm's) ...

silentmaxx sell 350W fanless air cooled PSU's. they are fine. watch heat though in a fanless case, the ATX fanned PSU's evacuate quite a bit - in my modded ATCS 201 case (no fans, metal grille panel a la macintosh G5) the fanless PSU is unusable, with the heat from a 3200+ and 9800 pro. so would the...

More Athlon 64 findings: After much messing around with Easytune and smart fan I gave up and tried speedfan. What a great utility! At idle, with the CPU fan OFF, CPU temp is stable at 32C. This is because cool 'n quiet clocks the CPU down to 800Mhz. 2. If the RPM is too low the noise is more notica...

THis PSU runs pretty hot, I wonder if that has anything to do with the price since the components would have to be designed to take that sort of abuse. Ehh, or maybe they are just cashing in on R & D. My seasonic silencer was 90 and runs up to 60'C yet the fan in the SM doesn't cut on until 65'C! (...
