Maybe the new Lian Li PC-V350B? I don't have one but it looks nice.

Gee, I'd forgotten all about that heatsink. Wish I'd have thought of it.

I think the main selling point for the CNPS8000 is that it will fit in an Aspire QPack case. It beats the heck out of the stock AMD cooler in that configuration. I put one on an ASUS A8N-VM CSM miniATX motherboard in my QPack. It's a tight fit but it works.

Am I correct in thinking that the new SATA 2.5" drives use the same data and power connectors as desktop SATA drives? Replacing my Raptor with a nice quiet 80GB Seagate 7200.1 drive, perhaps mounted in one of these , is very appealing. (Then I just have to wait for someone to get them in stock...) I...

My HP zv5000z Athlon 64 3200+ notebook (DTR chip, not even the Mobile version) has a very robust two-fan cooling system and appears to undervolt as well as the desktop boards. I used ClockGen to tweak the voltage and multiplier and Hot CPU Tester 4 Lite to verify. 2GHz @ 1.3V worked, as did 1.8GHz @...

Having bought both a Silencer and Tornado 400W PSU, the Silencer is definitely quieter in my A64 3200+ system, even when the A64 is in Cool & Quiet mode (800MHz @ 1.25V). Of course the Tornado moves a lot more air, but if you have proper case cooling I'd go with the Silencer.

Nah. Just blow $7 or so on one of the Zalman fan brackets. When you have it in position, it will also brace the video card, holding it more securely to the motherboard. The fan is best placed on the middle section of the bracket. I have mine blowing air on both sides of the two heatsinks. Thanks! T...

Also, I was reminded of where I used to work where we used dual PCI CPU cards for speech recognisers. There, we had a dual PowerPC card that put out over 70W of heat - when we put one in a Dell desktop, it blew the PSU and caught on fire in the office... I've since developed a healthy fea...

Thanks for the tip on working with those fan isolators bondiablo. I bet a little soapy water would work too. I put the Zalman ZM80C-HP heatpipe cooler on my GeForceFX 5700 Ultra video card and... it works, but after a round of UT2003 the GPU core temp is north of 70C (used Arctic Silver 3 of course,...

Hmm, I'm not confident about that 6-1/2 percentage point power load difference now. I don't remember whether I had my speakers turned on or off during the readings and that tweaks the readings by a point or two. (Old 2-speaker plus subwoofer.) Regardless, the Seasonic PSU seems to work as advertised.

First impressions: Kingwin KT-424-BK case, Seasonic p/s, etc

I had planned on buying an Antec P160 but when Newegg upped their ETA by a week I did more searching and stumbled across this case. (Naturally, the P160's arrived sooner than expected.) I already had a Seasonic Super Silencer 400W p/s, AcoustiPack Deluxe, several sets of fan isolators, and Pabst 80m...

brianstretch, Welcome to the SPCR Forums! Talk about stepping in it right away .....We should let you know that your first post pushed a typcial hot button around here--the idea that there is a need for more and more (unnecessary) PSU wattage to run today's systems  Actually, GG's 2.4C m...

Your 2.4GHz P4 burns significantly less power than his 3GHz P4 though (higher clock AND higher core voltage, the latter being the biggest problem). A good 300W supply may be adequate, but he doesn't have one, and if you're buying a new supply spending the extra bucks on a good 400W model is the way ...

P4's are extreme power hogs. Don't mess around, get a good 400W power supply. For the sake of being thorough get Motherboard Monitor and watch your voltage levels; odds are they're unstable and that's what's crashing your system. The absolute best power supply you can buy is the PC Power & Cooling T...
