A friend gave me an old (but new to me) computer that, one day, refused to boot for him. After several years, he gave it to me in a f...

One more thing. If you have a multimeter handy, check the BIOS battery. It should measure at something close to 3 volts. If it is significantly less than that, obtain a replacement battery at a local drugstore.

These things *do* go bad. It's worth checking just in case...

I have a 910 T and as far as I can tell, it's totally silent in its operation. I'd need to verify this on an evening where there's no breeze, no birds and no rain but it seems to contribute no noise at all to my office.

Anyone with specific experience in passive cooling of P3s in the 700-1000Mhz range? I got several of these , o-filed the fans and used one with the CPU located directly in front of the power supply intake fan - great "passive" cooling. The other, I placed a L1A fan close by directed on the heatsink...

Take your heatercore to a radiator shop (along with the other thing) and tell them about your concerns. Auto radiator shops have heard it all - they will be ablr to flush your core and repair it if it needs repair. They are the professionals with your salvaged part. :)

The 4100 was somewhat more difficult because the fan was (IIRC) firmly locked into place in some manner. It...

Perhaps using the fingernail polish on the socket would work. Alternatively, have you thought about using heat shrink on the pin? Something extremely thin mind you. Good luck dan.
