Ah, so it's a price point. Anyone think that installing PC3200 would make any noticeable performance increase?

HP jipping customers again? (HP DV Notebook Series w/Turion)

Here at Best Buy, ever since HP released their DV series of laptops they always fly off the shelves. They have awesome design and are truly great models. However, since they began using Turions, I am a bit puzzled. I remember last year when HP shipped desktops without AGP OR PCI-Express slots, jippi...

CPU - If you can afford it, go with the Toledo. 2 x 1 MB Cache = *drool*...
GPU - The default cooler on that thing is from the X850s... aka, NOISY.
RAM - Fast. Very fast.
Sound - Get the X-Fi. You'll thank me later.
Case - I don't know.
PSU - Get a Seasonic S12.

Western Digital Passport - New 120GB Version

Just got one of these from work. Rather pricey @ $200. Very quiet, I can barely hear this thing even with it sitting right in front of me. Runs very cool too. Just like the 2.5" Notebook camparo SPCR had a while back, I definately love it. The enclosure WD designed for their 120 GB Scorpio is very p...

Hello, If the HS is not getting warm to the touch (around the base?), then maybe the bottom is not very flat, or there is something "foreign" wedged in there? Clean off both parts, and check the HS bottom with a straight edge? Then apply just a thin layer of paste. Just to add on to what Neil is sa...

The 5400.3's seeks sound sharper... therefore more noticeable than the 5400.2's? I'm running a 7K100 in my laptop with AAM on, and it's decently quiet, and FAST! ;)

Well the thing is you have to understand how "quiet" exactly something is and how relative the term can be amongst many people. To my manager, a Vantec Tornado blasting away is quiet to him, but probably utterly intolerable for any of us here @ SPCR. That said, my friend got a Socket 754 Athlon 64, ...

Just my 2 cents worth:

Maxtors, in all of my experience, tend to run rather hot. All of the TWO maxtors I've had ran warmer than the Seagates that I've had (2). They can churn out a lot of performance, though. WD is still not a bad choice.

I told mike about the lost tags as well. I personally do have this 250 GB drive in a Nexstar3 external, and I must agree with everyone that it is a very nice and quiet drive. Seeks are very dull, not obtrusive at all. As for thermals, runs a little warm, but it's expected. Could be resolved with pro...

Gateway's FPD2185W 21" Widescreen HD Monitor

I just got me one of these bad boys, and I have got to say it is a-m-a-z-i-n-g! The thing that I really love is how much more space I get. Coming from a 19" LCD, this really is a big improvement. Can do SO much more. One thing why I posted here is to let future or current users know that setting the...

I"m not sure exactly what is the point of this thread. There are quite several solutions available for high end cards to be cooled fairly quietly. Passively, I doubt. But actively with creating little noise, yes. Look at the aforementioned VF700, as well as the NV5Rev3. They are excellent choices fo...

I'm still confused as to how this exactly moves air. Does it suck air in through the fan, and blow it DOWN, thus HEATING UP the motherboard? I saw in one of the pics that there is an exhaust hole on the side over the PWM. Still very confused as to how the airflow works for this cooler.

Personally, I naturally doubt the 16 dBA rating. However, I've never personally heard their products. But for 54 CFM, again, I doubt it.

Kind of a dumb question - With the Nexus 120mm, because it has the closed screw holes, is a dremel required if I want to use the Nexus 120mm orange fan with my XP 120? or can the fan clips go all the way out and hold it ? I myself have a dremel, i am just a little too afraid to use it - I still have...

Guys, I'm not saying the raptor's noisy to begin with. I'm just disappointed that it isn't quieter (the seeks could use some work). I have 2 74 GB Raptors and they're perfectly quiet, and still plenty bearable during my normal gaming (Tanks blazin and guns firing drown these out easily).
