I bought this case last month, except mine has two 60mm fans in the back. Very happy that both fans start up at 5v, and they're fairly quiet even at 7v. Sorry, I can only provide a subjective measurement -- I don't have any equipment here to measure the dB. Loudest thing in it is my lameass Enermax ...

You're not nuts; I've already done it. :P I got tired of the PSU fan ramping up all the time. I have a Seasonic 120mm PSU flipped upside-down. I cut a hole in the top of my case for air to get through. I haven't opened the PSU yet, but what I'd like to do is cut out the stamped grill and put a Papst...

Drive covers w/ventilation
Does anyone know where I can find metal drive covers that have holes in them for ventilation?
I considered getting some modder's mesh, but they're out of stock again... and I'd also rather not have to deal with cutting and shaping the mesh myself if I can avoid it.

Re: Advantages to a Quiet PC?
It makes me feel snooty and elitist and superior to the uncultured, noisy PC-owning masses, and I like that.intx wrote:I'm curious, what are the advantages to having a quiet pc that appeal to you?

I heard that a PC with the side panel off would be unstable because the airflow would be disturbed, creating really hot spots in small areas. Don't know if that's really true. Give it a try and see if your temps decrease. If they do, that means you probably have poor airflow in your case. You'd be ...

I think the point is that AMD's newer processors won't have an increase in heat.Dhurdahl wrote:Well... Im quite sure we'll see something like BTX in the near future..
Why? Well the current ATX doesn't have any airflow management at all. And this will become important if we'll going to see an increase in heat.

The looks are all right... much nicer than the other Chenbro cases. I would've preferred a round top blowhole and a round power button -- the square shapes don't match the curviness of the rest of the case. Too bad they couldn't make the entire bottom mesh, either. Better for airflow, and probably f...

As long as I have proper airflow in the case, I don't think the hot air will heat up the casing of the PSU... and even if it did, I doubt that it'd be a big problem. It's really no different than building an air channel for the PSU as others here have done, right? I also plan on leaving the stock th...

This is spooky: You seem to have (mostly) the exact same hardware that I'm using. ... 2 optical drives, Plextor cd-burner + LG dvd-burner ... Wow, how did you know I have a Plextor too? (Actually, mine is an ancient 40x SCSI CD-ROM... I think it's actually time to retire it.) I wanted to stop...

Lol! That one's hilarious. It's as if they thought that the fan-shaped stamp would help airflow... that's what I like to think they thought anyway.NeilBlanchard wrote: Coolmaster:

So many replies... where to start... If your case has feet, best thing you could do would be to snip out as much of the bottom of your case as possible and then cover it with 1/4" open cell foam(sold as intake filter material for room AC units). Unfortunately, this case doesn't have feet, so there's...

Here's a picture of my setup. (Forgive the crappy red arrows -- they show which way the air is going.) http://members.shaw.ca/alau/airflow.jpg As you can see, fresh air is drawn in from the two 80mm rear fans and the top blowhole (or suckhole, in this case). The top blowhole is not blowing out, but ...

Though the fan-grills likely need some doctoring (a.k.a. WISS Tin-Snip-ing). Dunno about that... the back one is about as good as they come -- same as on best Antecs, at least 80% air pass-through -- and plenty good enough to me; the front one -- maybe. Any excuse to use those Wiss tin snips, right...

Airflow advice for a guy w/Seasonic Tornado PSU (now w/pics)
I'm the proud new owner of a 120mm top blowhole which I cut myself using Crisspy's excellent tin snips tutorial. :) But what I had in mind -- having it blow up to exhaust hot air out of the case -- isn't working very well. I have a case with a Seasonic Super Tornado (120mm fan blowing hot air up int...

I don't have a NoiseTaker, but I do have an older 300W Enermax unit. I had bad coil whine with a Radeon 9700Pro as well. Actually, to be precise, it was the combination of nForce2 motherboard, Radeon, and Enermax. Take any one of these out of the equation, and the squeal goes away. Eventually replac...

Thanks for the tip on how to measure my HD's temp. I just tried it out... and I was shocked to see that my HD temps were in the mid 50's. Guess putting the drives (and the entire computer) inside my TV stand/cabinet isn't such a great idea. This might also be the cause of my data corruption problems...

Erm, how are you guys measuring temps? I have a thermisistor I can try, but I don't know where I'd stick it. Or is there a tool for montoring drive temps? FWIW, the sides of my Seagate Barracuda V drives (120GB and 200GB) are almost scaldingly hot when I touch the sides. They aren't mounted in a dri...
