Suitability of Zalman CNPS7000A for Phenom X4 II
Hi haven’t posted for some time but am about to upgrade. My current system was built with help of this site and consists of an Antec SLK3700AMB case which I successfully modded to make it quieter following advice from this site. The cpu is a Pentium P4 2.8ghz with a Zalman CNPS7000A heatsink cooler,...

I have a 3700AMb with a P4 2.8C and Albatron MB. I am not sure where the MB measures the case temp but with an ambient of 23 -24C I have either 35 or 37C. Reason I am not sure is that there are 3 temps monitored, the CPU is about 43C idle. I have one no name fan in the rear which runs at just above ...

Mike - a very good resource and greatly appreciated. Not sure if this is the right forum but is there a definitive guide to acceptable temperatures and as importantly how these are measured. If not would it be possible to have a guide to measuring temps - both cpu and case both by inbuilt mobo senso...

. When you change the CPU cooler (assuming you have a cooler the basicly stirs around the air in the chassi) you expect your chassi temp to remain unchanged . At this point you should step back and wonder why chassi temp changed drasticly when you did not expect it to. I suspect that the problem is...

Lovin my Ions as well. I leave mine on the slow fan setting and it seems to be more than adequate to remove the heat from the psu (medium is not much noisier either). Practically inaudible for my ears at least! I often have 2 computers running at same time and after modding my old no name computer ...

So under load your chassi temps drops 17*C when you change the CPU cooler? It doesn't make any sense at all. Also under load your Intel CPU delta temp (67-54) is 13*C and with Zalman you got (54-37) 17*C. So, according to your numbers the Zalman performs 4*C worse than the stock Intel cooler. I thi...

Re: P4 3.2gig cooling
At an ambient temp today of 32c and case temp of 38c it is idling at 47-49c and 61c under load (Zalman alcu at 12v) any ideas? these temps are about 1c cooler at idle and 1c hotter at load than the stock cooler without the scream. I have just run some comparitive tests with my P4 2.8C also with Zal...

I use one and I have to stick my ear about 6" (150mm) from it to hear it. It makes my Zalman 7000 seem like a boing 707. Having said that it also does not seem to punch out much heat. I leave mine on Auto. Another good reason for geting it was the AC outlet which allows me to plug a power board in t...

i use a simple luddite method of figuring out if the CPU is running too hot: touch the heatsink. if it's so hot that it's painful to touch, it's probably over 55'C and you should be mildly concerned My P42.8C reports about 40 idle and 50- 52 under load (cpuburn and about 2 -3c higher OC to 3.2) whi...

Have been running SpeedFan to control my fans and liked how it could control the speeds as opposed to manually turning knobs on my Zalman MFC1 (which is now on another machine). However what I did not like, or maybe was unable to work how to do it, was to continuously adjust the dpeeds to maintain a...

It stalls at 20% but will run at 25% but it needs 50% to kick start it, I do not know how accurate these reportings are. Lowering min voltage
Is there any easy way to lower the voltage of a fan controller.
Seems most have a lowest voltage of 7V, or the ones that I may be interested in have, and I want to be able to go to less than 5V.

Help with temp and fan controller
Think I may be a bit optimistic but does anyone know of a fan controller that has at least 3 temp readouts and have a lowest voltage of say 5v for 2 fans minimum? Most of the ones I have seen reviewed eg the superflower have only a min of 7v as the lowest setting. Is there way to further adjust, eas...

P4C temps - Are these acceptable?
I am reasonably happy with the noise aspect of my setup which is a an Albatron PX865PE mb, Zalman 7000 AlCu, 2.8 P4C with an Evercool 120mm alum exhaust fan (the H model) and no intake fan in a 3700AMB case. Also have a Matrox g400 graphic card and WD 40 gig HDD. Case has had the rear grille cut out...

I don't think there was much ambient noise. It was about 9:30PM, the TV was off and nothing else was making any particular noise that I can remember. You need to enable the HDD temp monitoring by checking a box on the first "General" screen and then rebooting. After reboot the sensor (if there is one, doubtful on your WD drive) will show up at the bottom of the sensor list drop-down box in the "Temperatures" section. I don't think the WD HDD has...

HDD temp monitoring
Have instaled MBM 5.3.5 My motherboard, Albatron PX865PE, is listed and the case and CPU temp sensors are auto selected. I also get a 3rd sensor detected which has a slightly lower, approx 2 - 3C, reading. Would his be the HDD temp? I have a SMART HDD and SMART is enabled in the BIOS. The HDD is a W...
