Re: New noctua 120mm PWM fan, NF-A12x25 the GT Clone

How would using three of these in the front of a Fractal R6 instead of two Be Quiet Silent Wings 3 140s compare? I do have both A12x25 and A14 fans. I concur that A12 are inaudible at 800rpm, and the increase in noise to 1000rpm is minimal. The A14’s were audible to me at much lower rpm, somewhere ...

Re: New noctua 120mm PWM fan, NF-A12x25 the GT Clone

How would using three of these in the front of a Fractal R6 instead of two Be Quiet Silent Wings 3 140s compare?. Which would likely be able to push more air before it is audible at about a meter or a little more, and which would probably have a better sound profile at medium and high amounts of air...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 PCGH-Edition

Unfortunately, it looks like I won't be purchasing the case, although not because, in the end, it's unavailable, Kustom got back to me quickly on the request, and was willing to provide the case, asking only for a very reasonable margin, but estimated (couldn't be certain without the case on hand) t...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 PCGH-Edition

Thought I would post an update. The purchase, unfortunately, didn't go through at Alternate. I e-mailed them and they let me know that at this time they do not ship to the US. They do ship to Great Britain, however, so, following on edh's suggestion, I contacted a shop in Scotland, Kustom, with whic...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 PCGH-Edition

I'm not sure what the obsession about power LEDs is in the first place. edit: not trying to peeve anyone off, all in good jest! Don't worry, I understand. :) I focused on it, in part, because I'm pretty happy with the rest of the case (I say that as I try to buy a slightly different version). The L...

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 PCGH-Edition

Thank you for the tip. I'm a little worried that I won't be able to get at the LED in the case, but I'll have to give it a look.

Re: Fractal Design Define R4 PCGH-Edition

I really like it. I just put a server in a standard R4, and think it's the best case I've ever used. Now I'm looking for an R4 for my desktop, and for my purposes, this seems to be an improvement in every way. I'd like to get one, but as someone who doesn't speak German, I'm having trouble finding a...

Re: Shaman on MSI R6970 Lightning?

Thanks! This is very informative. I'll try the Asus and strap a 120mm on it. Even though the heatsink is shorter than the overall length of the card, if I'm lucky, I'll find a way to hook two 120s up to it, which can then be run very slowly, even at load.

Re: Shaman on MSI R6970 Lightning?

I didn't honestly think of that, but it makes sense. It could certainly be an intermediate step between keeping the installed cooling and replacing it entirely.

Do you know what the fan mounting positions are like underneath the shrouds?

Re: Shaman on MSI R6970 Lightning?

Any information or experience anyone has about how these two products would go together would be very appreciated, but I think I'll give it a try, and if I find that I need to try to install a Shaman, I'll update this thread so that other people can know how it goes. Possibly while regretting not tr...

Shaman on MSI R6970 Lightning?

I'm hoping to get an extremely quiet 6970, and the MSI Lightning has a good reputation, but my distrust of the cooling that comes with a manufacturer's card leads me to hope that there can be a backup if turning down the fan on the MSI isn't enough. Is it possible to install a Thermalright Shaman on...

Re: NVidia GPU always runs full speed when using multi scree

Thanks for posting about this. I was pretty certain I was going to get an NVidia card, and maybe I still will, but, I don't know, but all of that pointlessly created noise, even with an AC Accelero Xtreme Pro, and wasted energy will be irritating. I would appreciate the power of a GTX 580 when I nee...

Sorry to hear about your thumb, ilovejedd.

The response I got from Thermalright just pointed me to this page. Sidewinder has it listed as out of stock, but hopefully it can be found elsewhere.

Thank you very much for your responses. I guess the choice is between the Thermalright HR-01 Plus and the Scythe Ninja 2 (probably the rev. B, which I think is designed for the 1156?), in part because of their high fin surface area and wide fin spacing working well with low airflow, unless there is ...

Easiest to Install Heatsink for i3-530 with No CPU Fan?

What would be the easiest heatsink to install on an MSI H55M-ED55 to cool an i3-530 with no CPU fan? It will probably be going in a Silverstone FT-01, and the case fans will be used and undervolted to medium or low strength, but I'd like to eliminate the CPU fan if I can. Graphics will be from the I...

I'm in something of a similar situation as pyn, I'm looking for a case to stash 10-12 drives, but there is an qualification in that I'm hoping to use a mid-tower case, rather than full-tower. I came very close to getting a rackmount rig, all the parts were specced out and I came very close to placin...

Super-Flower Fan Master temp problem

Hi, I have a Super-Flower Fan Master. All four heat probes are in their correct positions. The problem is that the temperatures are always reading the same. It doesn't matter if the computer has just been started or running for an hour, if the fans are turned all the way up or down. Each sensor fixe...
