My wife compaq presario 2100 fan only start at a certain temp so if it is cool enough it is prefectly silent, but once the fan start, well you can hear it. I wouldn't be able to sleep next to it. what exactly is powered by the 3.3V line? The +3.3v stardard is used to power motherboards with cpus 100 mhz and above - ie. your cpu. Is the CPU not fed by the 12V line? Hey MikeC, I was just thinking of getting the low speed 92mm panaflow and installing it, since I'm worried about the 80mm not being able to vent enough heat. 80mm lowspeed panaflow + sealed intake psu case vents?
replace 80&92 mm fans with panaflos -- use the low speed ones. This is probably the best option if you are going to hack in there anyway. They have much quieter bearings than the ones in the stock Antec ones IIRC. Hey MikeC, I have the same Antec 430 PSU too and I just swapped the outtake fan to on...
