What I'd like to know is what the difference would be, performance-wise, between the two above choices? The performance difference is huge, typically 3x or greater in favor of stand-alone graphics cards. However, integrated video has a huge advantage in terms of lower power use. Integrated video us...

Something like a mATX AM2 board based on the nvidia 6150 chipset is absolutely awesome for normal PC stuff like office apps, internet, basic multimedia and so on, and you have a little bit of power if you ever want to play any games etc (though newer games you'd have to play at 800*600 with low deta...

All depends on budget really. Here's a fairly standard configuration I'd recomend. Case/PSU: Antec NSK2400 with 380W PSU CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (or if you have a bigger budget then something like the Core 2 Duo E6600) Motherboard: Asus P5B-VM RAM: 2GB DDR2 PC6400 VGA: ATI X1900GT HDD: 320GB Wes...

Fortron doesn't seem to be available in Australia. Also don't want to buy a thermaltake psu. I just don't trust them. Xbit have an article where they show some of their PSU ratings to be false and I've used a thermaltake PSU before and the system wasn't stable (although I can't say with certainty th...

Recomendation on PSU. Seasonic is too expensive/unavailable
Hey guys Would optimally like to get a Seasonic S12 600W but they're very expensive in Australia and only available from one PC store (interstate) so I'm looking for another recomendation. The PSU would be to power a very high end system (Conroe E6600 overclocked with Thermalright Ultra-120, 2GB RAM...

It is possible to make an almost completely silent system (bar optical drive). It would just cost money. 1) Zalman passive case 2) Core 2 Duo E6300 3) Passive conroe compatable matx mobo 4) Solid state HDD (eg Gigabyte i-RAM with 4GB RAM). Add more for more storage space. 5) Passive video card. 6) R...

next month there should be at least one nice board from dfi based on ati chips with x700 (not regular old one, they aded avivo to it) or a cheaper with x300 on board. i've also decided to wait, because now there is no nice 775 for core 2 duo, or am2 mATX board yet IMO. I just built an AM2 system fo...

An Antec P180 Looks like it would be suitable. It has the necessary space for those hard drives and has the ability to cool them adequately. The PSU that's recomended most on this site at the moment are the Seasonic S12 series coming in 330W, 430W, 500W and 600W. For your system I'd probably get the...

Advice on building an HTPC system that's quiet
Well guys, along with my new main system (see my other post) I'll be building an HTPC to connect to my projector (Panasonic AE500 on a 100" 16:9 screen), and sound system (AUS$6000 worth of B&W speakers/sub connected to a Yamaha amp/reciever). So this is what I've come up with. I'm really new to the...

OK: Decided to scale the system down a bit. From looking at reviews the original system would be quite a bit more than I would need. So here's what I'm planning now. Any recomendations would be good: Case: Antec P180B PSU: Seasonic S12 600W Case fans: 2* Nexus 120mm real silent (1 at rear, 1 in bott...

Advice for building a relatively quiet superfast system
*EDIT* Changed plans on system specs due to deciding that planned system was more than I needed. See my post below for new specs. Advice would be appreciated.

Wow this case looks great and gives me some ideas. looks better than the Antec SLK3700AMB I was planning on getting. Hmmm I'd probably cover the top and bottom grills with an acoustipack deluxe. Mount 2 80mm Panaflo L1A's at the back with the grills cut out and replaced with wire ones. 2 74GB Raptor...

Silencing 2 74GB Raptors in an Antec 3700AMB
Hi guys! In my upcoming PC I plan to get 2 74GB Raptors and run them in RAID 0 in an Antec 3700AMB yet I still want a quiet computer  I've been doing some research and can't really come to a conclusion. I would need to stop the noise from vibrations but still keep the drives very cool (I've ha...

When my renovation's complete (soon now) I'll be getting 4 new computers. I've decided that I'll use the 40GB Hitachi drives in 3 of them but the main one I'll put 2 74GB Western Digital Raptors in RAID 0 but I still want it to be a silent PC  so I'll have to work hard on silencing them. Is th...

Which fan controller?
I need a fan controller that can control 4 fans between 5v and 12v. I would preferebly like it to occupy the 3.5" bay but a 5" one is fine too.
All the ones that I've seen go from 7v.
Thanks
Daniel

If so why does it have a molex connector on the adaptor. Would each HDD require 2 molex connectors then?

Sure are... Link. Keep in mind that because of the lower heat output and generally lower sensitivity to environmental conditions (the TravelStar 7K60 is designed for 24/7 use in tight cramped spaces with little or no air flow, as well as able to take shock associated with mobile applications), this...
