before (idle and load respectively) case 35c / 37c cpu 52c / 57c after case 32c / 34c cpu 50c / 55c ambient temp was 25c i still think the CPU is too hot, mainly due to the poor exhaust (120mm @ 5v - gonna replace it with 120mm antec @ 12v), and there aren't enough holes for the intake fan to work p...

im not really a fan of suspending drives, i don't like things dangling around in my case ... especially not the drives. also im constantly changing drives, hotswap bays saved my a LOT of trouble in the past. i had 2 of these before, after a few months the fan would rattle for a few seconds on boot. ...

Antec 3700BQE - Drive cage removal

Case temps are getting too high, wanna get rid of the cage (by any means necessary), stick the drives into 5.25" hotswap trays, and stick a 120mm Panaflo in the front. Anyone got a link to this being done (saw it somewhere a few weeks back)? Should I RMA the BQE and get the AMB instead? Does the AMB...

i wouldn't suggest ever running a cpu + heatsink without thermal grease, the standard stuff works well - AS works better.

no ... but i can step into the spare room with the fileserver and be tone deaf for the next half hour, just to be reminded of how nice silence sounds.

5 harddisks ... 7 fans ... wow.

Also, is there a HUGE difference between the SLK-900 and 800? The 700 ...

The ThermalRight 900 is a good idea --> http://svc.com/thslcl.html

it definately fits psu-wise, guess i could always get out the old dremel and chop it up if the fins hit caps.

hmm maybe 7v will do it for me ... i dont mind a bit of noise, anything but the 12v Delta to be honest :D thanks for the suggestion Neil, the only thing im conerned about is the fan clearance at the top. the HS expands as it goes up and thus it might not fit due to the psu being directly above it. i...

Before

AXP 3000+ with boxed heatsink + 12v Delta @ 6000rpm 5000000dB
120mm Panaflo @ 12v
92mm Sunon @ 12v
Shitty stock heatsink+fan on 9800Pro

After

Delta @ 5v
120mm Panaflo @ 7v
80mm Panaflo @ 12v
Zalman GPU HS cooled by 120mm Panaflo

I don't need my heatset to listen to music anymore!

yes ... but i dont think they would know if you RMAed it.

changing the voltage changes the clock speed unless im badly mistaken, and i think any changes to the clock void it.

I found that the Panaflo 120mm moves jack all at 5v, you can't hear it though lol.

7v works best IMO, you hear a quiet hum (<50cm) and it moves considerably more air.
