I've been using T'bird at home. Have to use Outlook at work. T'bird is lean, mean, and has good spam filtering. Looks nice too.

Bomba - you raved about the Squeezebox software. My beef with most music management software is that they are simply awful at cataloging the music like I want to. Most of them are song-oriented, not album oriented. They seem optimized for song-buyers (downloads) rather than album buyers. Yes you ca...

I've got the 3000B. I duct-taped over the hole at the bottom of the front bezel, I've got acoustipack on the side panel which covers the expansion slot vent, but I use the CPU duct. For that I've got a square of household vent filter material. So far, things stay pretty clean. Every couple of months...

You say the power supply fan isn't spinning, so I'd focus there first. This may be obvious, but most power supplies have a switch to set it for 110V or 220V operation. Make sure you've got it set to the proper voltage for your electrical system. If it's an auto-ranging power supply, it's supposed to...

What DAW hardware/software are you using (or planning to use) and what's your typical workflow? I'm using a 1212M and EmulatorX. At the moment I'm using Cubasis VST4 (which came with the 1212M/EmulatorX package) and Audacity. I will probably upgrade. To what? I don't know. I also have an Asus A8V D...

The retail box warranty is based on the assumption you'll use the included AMD (or Intel) heatsink. The heatsinks come with pre-applied thermal interface pads, so it's kind of like AMD's insurance policy against death-by-improper-installation. To quote the AMD retail box processor installation guide...

I use one of these. It works, is cheap, and relatively safe. Plus, you get some feeback on the condition of your PSU.

Thanks for the feedback Steve. I guess with Acoustic pak, the overall noise will be reduced. I also like the fact that the 3000b allows a PSU with your own selection. Not that you can't replace the sonata's, its just you wouldn't feel like money wasted. As for the duct position, I guess I can alway...

I was wondering how well the duct actually lines up with standard NF4/KT890 motherboards, like the Abit AX8 and Epox EP-9NPA+ fitted with the XP90/XP120. I saw that someone posted that it didn't line up very well with a DFI-board, but they have their sockets/dimms in a different configuration. A ve...

Considering there are aftermarket drive coolers that put one or two fans in close proximity to the drive (albeit the underside), I'd assume the magnetic field issue is probably low-risk. However, judging from your pic, that's not much of an air-gap. I'd consider a front-to-back configuration to flow...

Thermaltake Hardcano 12
Anyone have any opinions?
It looks like a less-than-perfect solution, but hey, the perfect is the enemy of the good.
Hardcano 12 Review.
So far, it's the first one I've seen that offers a way regulate speeds, not just set on/off points.
It's bulky as hell, though (and pricey).
Still...

I've tried working with Speedfan (see the links page), and while it's 90% there in terms of fan control, it's that remaining 10% which is show-stopping for me. (Fans spin down completely when trigger temps are reached and I can't seem to work aroun...

I've been thinking about the same thing for awhile for my P4. My approach would be a straight-through front-to-back system with two fans: fan 1 attached to the heatsink drawing ducted fresh air and blowing it over the HS, and fan two on the rear of the chassis exhausing the hot air. The main logisti...

Nexus PPR-1030 -- Review Candidate?
I hadn't seen this Nexus PPR-1030 before. New?
It's got me wondering whether or not it would be overkill on my lil' ol' P4 2.8. I'd swap fans with the my 3600, which runs at a pretty constant 2600 RPMs.
I can't find weight specs on it though.
