I built mine

It's been a while since I posted this. Well, I bought this already and built it up. You can see pics here (about half-way down): http://forum.vapochill.com/showthread.php?t=11527 The problems are: 1) the inlet/outlet has to be put towards the front of the case, and that makes it so you lose the top ...

AM2 nVidia 590 boards + inverted orientation = Heat Problem?

I am looking to get an AM2 board in the next month or so. Probably a 590 or 570, depending on layout and features. I have a Lian-Li 1100 case (inverted design), and will be water-cooling the system. Almost all of the 590's have a heatpipe system on the board. Some heatpipes (in general) are hollow a...

Big 120mm fan review

Madshimps.de has a huge 120mm review up with all fans tested @ 12v, 7v, and 5v. Very big list, with good data, sound recordings, and subjective analysis.

Just go Options: Advanced

And in the Temp sensors, find the hard drive in the list, and change the offset to -7 or -20, and then they will read fine in SpeedFan.

My video card needs a -29'C offset ;)

I have the same problem. It's very common on nForce2 mboards, especially. The PSU doesn't factor into it at all. It's the mboards fault for not being able to source enough current from it's own logic chips on the mboard, but not because of lack of power from the PSU to the mboard. A powered USB hub ...

S12 + DVine

I have that case (or a derivative) and an S12. The only problem I have had is that the 120mm fan has a pretty low-frequency vibration to it, which causes the outer shell to rattle (since it's not connected very well to the frame) against the back frame. So, I slid a business card in between the case...

No, windows can power down just a single drive. But if there is just a single byte requested from the drive, it either keeps spinning, or spins back up. So, don't put a swap file on it.

Can a Lian-Li PC-V1100 case fit a Black Ice Radiator?

I'm looking at building a new computer this year. I'm planning on going water-cooled for the first time. Right now, I'm looking at a Lian-Li PC-V1100 (black) case and an Asetek Waterchill kit (with a Black Ice Pro rad and the usb/software-controlled pump). Overall specs would be a new AMD socket AM2...

New fans with golf-ball dimples on the blades

http://www.sharkoon.com/flash/data/PRODUKTE/BIG/silenteagle.jpg Review From Xoxide for $11.99. They come with 5 dampening screws, in a 1000 or 2000 rpm configuration, but 80mm only for now. They have a molex pass-through+rpm plus in addition to a regular 3-pin connecter, that is rounded and looks s...

I set mine to power down after 2 hours of inactivity. Starting up a drive is kind of like takeoff for an airplane. Either on the ground, or cruising, things are just coasting. But takeoff and landings are very stressful for the hardware. I wouldn't recommend powering up/down a drive more than 3 or 4...

SpeedFan's GPU temps of a 6800GT

I've got an XFX 6800GT (with an NV5) and when I read it's temps with SpeedFan for the first time, it reported the temps 26'C less than what the temperature tab in the driver reported. SpeedFan added a temperature offset soon after, so I made a 26'C offset and it matched. Later on, a newer version of...

I saw this posted on another thread: The ThermalTake Symphony

Do a search, it will com up. Basically, the Reserator idea, but with 5 120mm fans spinning at 1500rpm. It will definately have a lot more cooling power than the Reserator.

With just screws, instead of going so far as suspending the drives, could you make some nice rubber washers to put between the case and the drive cage? According to this review of the 1000 ( http://www.guru3d.com/article/cases/200/8/ ), the new 'Plus' cases have the drive cages and PSU "firewall" screwed in, rather than riveted. Which is better between these two for monitoring. The thing that confuses me is that speedfan reports temps 10 degrees lower. In speedfan v4.19 ? and later, you can go into the Advanced settings tab and there is an "offset" for every temp. Just subtract 10 for that temp. On my GF6800GT, I had to ad...

I have an Ahanix Blu2 case with the front LCD. It seems to be from a basic chassis that is used by several other VAR's that has the hinged CD-ROM and 1 or 2 60mm fans out the back. I have one of these loud SS400 PSUs. I have noticed that the fan speed spikes are power-draw related, as long as the ambient air temp is close to their circuit's trip point.
